This is the most revealing statement on the root cause with BR and Louisiana in general.

It's just his thoughts and has no basis in reality and no source to back it up

Every library in ebr gets at minimum 20 (homeless) visitors within the first 5 minutes of opening every day

Yeah, they just made a little row for bikes to ride dangerously close to cars that are driving in lanes that are dangerously too narrow now. Wtf.

The real problem is that more than half of BR residents do not want a mayor, a district attorney, or judges that will be tough on criminals. And it’s easy to figure out why.

careful. I criticized the massive amounts of money being spent on the library and the library dweebs came out in droves. You want to talk about some pearl-clutching, shrill sky screamers? Even suggest a small reallocation of those funds to something as trivial as police/fire protection and watch them scream. Shrilly.

I wish around here would invest in more sidewalks

Come to Texas, where we put them along four lane frontage roads with a 55mph speed limit, next to a four lane tollway with a 65mph limit, with no retail or residential for a mile or more at a time.

It's just money.

Last year there was a vote to fund the DA’s office and it was rejected. It’s what the people wanted unfortunately.

All three of your posts so far in this thread have been the most negative, I give up, there’s no hope bullshite. Just go sit in a corner and pout to yourself if that’s all you have to offer.

Ok, mister cheerleader. What you thinking? Do you even fricking live here? It's a lot to take in. I just posted about the 1300 days since Allie Rice's murder, and here we have more judges dumping more and more criminals right back on the streets. What's your plan?

Just last week the Mayor got a major salary increase for the police passed by the C-P Council which will allow the BRPD to finally fill a training academy, something that hasn't been accomplished for years.

It will help solve the under staffing of patrol officers at BRPD that has been here for as long as I can remember.

And he did it without a tax increase.

We will see the results of an improved police department from the increased salaries in due time.

But go ahead and bitch about something you're completely ignorant about. That will surely solve our crime problem.

I can’t speak to any other library, but I challenge you to drive by the main library on Goodwood at any time that it’s open and see if you don’t have more than 20 people inside at a time. I drive past it multiple times a day and the parking lot is always packed.

Without knowing the specifics, isn’t this something that would be voted on at some point? I can’t imagine any mayor can green light that type of project and then tax you for it…

BR has issues, but recalling a mayor because of years of rot prior to his time in office is a Karen-type cry.

You may die tomorrow in a hail of gunfire. Your kids may die tomorrow in a hail of gunfire. That's the way it is here now and it's the way it will be FOREVER. You cannot change it. The judges will release them intermittently with conditions they will not comply with, and there's no police presence to protect you from them. This is the way it is. Try to enjoy it. Go to JazzFest, go to Saints games, go to Festival Internationale, go fishing, eat some poboys, and try not to die.
you can change it. you can love your family enough to move to a place nothing like you described.

I don’t think that many people realize just how badly Broome fricked up Baton Rouge. She decimated the BRPD and single-handedly destroyed downtown. Baton Rouge wasn’t perfect, but it was on the upswing during Kip Holden’s time in office. Broome undid all of that good work in her first term.
