You’re killing it with the false dichotomies, what can I say

And so in a slow week, there are 2-3 murders in Baton Rouge. And the inevitable is happening. It's spreading out of the north Baton Rouge hood and creeping into affluent white suburban areas, including the Mall of Louisiana.

But you know, GMan, you and your stupid false dichotomies...

Giving BRPD a raise is great and they deserve it, but the issue is out of Mayor Sid’s hands. It’s entirely up to Hillar and the judges to actually lock up criminals, and neither gives a frick.

And now we've moved from false dichotomies to trying to massage the facts to make your argument.
quote:

And so in a slow week, there are 2-3 murders in Baton Rouge.

Are there weeks in which we have more than three murders? Sure, but they are rare. In the entirety of East Baton Rouge Parish (so not just Baton Rouge), we had 94 murders in 2025 ( LINK ). Considering there are 52 weeks in a year, that comes out to an average of 1.8 murders per week. To call "2-3 murders" a "slow week" simply isn't reflective of reality. And that's for the parish as a whole. If we're talking about the city itself, we're probably down to 1.5 or so per week. Is that too high? Of course. Are you being utterly hyperbolic by saying that 2-3 murders is a slow week? Absolutely.
quote:

It's spreading out of the north Baton Rouge hood and creeping into affluent white suburban areas, including the Mall of Louisiana.

Is it? Before this incident, can you cite to the last time we had a murder in an "affluent white suburban area"? Hell, I'll settle for any "affluent white area", suburb or not. I could obviously be missing something, and I'm happy to be corrected if I am, but otherwise, one incident does not a pattern make.

Now, in your desperation, you stepped into your bullshite nonsense.
I won't embarrass you by Googling all of them, but just off the top of my head--they shot and then burned the house with the body in it, in St. George about 6 months ago. A rapper was gunned down with dozens of bullets right outside the Mall on Bluebonnet a couple of years ago. They had a murder in the Perkins Row parking garage about 6 months ago. They also had a shooting or two on Siegen west of Perkins.

They had one at a bank on Jefferson right by Towne Center about 6 months ago.

But you know Gman, 3 deaths a week is no big deal.

So not in Baton Rouge.
quote:

A rapper was gunned down with dozens of bullets right outside the Mall on Bluebonnet a couple of years ago.

Assuming you're referring to this ( LINK ), that was over four years ago.
quote:

They had a murder in the Perkins Row parking garage about 6 months ago.

Assuming you're talking about this ( LINK ), it was an accidental discharge in which the kid stayed on scene to talk to police about accidentally killing his friend; he was arrested for negligent homicide.
quote:

They also had a shooting or two on Siegen west of Perkins.

This is vague enough that I'm not going to go searching for them, but if you find them, I'd happy to look at them.
quote:

They had one at a bank on Jefferson right by Towne Center about 6 months ago.

Assuming you're talking about this ( LINK ), a guy accidentally shot himself. No one, including him, died.

So it's less that you're lying and more than you're simply mistaken

Seriously, man? Are you gonna stand your ground on Baton Rouge no longer being St. George? And shootings, fatal or not, that typically happen in the hood are now happening in traditionally white areas of the City Parish? What about the house that was burned down to hide the shooting? You glaringly skipped over that one.

You need to stop before you embarrass yourself for all time by justifying undeniable wider spreading violence out of the Hood as no big deal; including the 17-year-old who was butchered in the Mall food court.

So anything bad that happens in BR is BR and anything bad that happens in StG is also Baton Rouge. Got it

You're right; white folk have never accidentally discharged firearms that hurt themselves or others. Only black folk do that, and when it happens, we should definitely pretend as though it's on par with murder, which was the subject of what we were talking about...

I'm confused. Was that not the St. George one? I'm not sure how to reasonably read your sentence other than to interpret it as that the shooting and the burning happened in St. George. Do you want to rephrase?

and right on cue you disingenuous fool...

quote:

ST. GEORGE — A woman was arrested in St. George late Saturday night after she allegedly shot a man during an argument.

According to deputies with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, 29-year-old Keishell Jarreau and the victim arrived at a residence just before midnight, where they engaged in a verbal argument outside. Jarreau then allegedly knocked on the front door of the residence and began arguing with the owner.

Just stop wasting your time. This josh whatever is like you said, disingenuous. A person like that will fall on his sword and twist words in any fashion to not give up a valid point the other side makes. It’s pointless.

I’ve decided not to engage with josh anymore. A brick wall. Just like LSURussian.

Well you're right. I'm about done with his arse. He's basically defending Baton Rouge's growing and spreading--shootings and murder rate.

How unbelievable is that?

Oh no, what appears to be a non fatal domestic in St. George? Whatsoever shall I do as a resident of Baton Rouge? The sky is definitely falling now. Then again, shouldn’t we be celebrating? According to you, anything fewer than four cold bodies is a slow day

You sound exactly like a liberal

Your position is that the sky is falling. My position is that we have a problem that needs fixing, but the sky isn’t falling.

But I’m disgusting because I don’t buy into your liberal-esque histrionics. Sure thing, Jan

you're reprehensible and stupid to boot. I'm as far right as they come. You're the one coming off as a flamingo liberal defending the murder and attempted murder rate clearly spreading out of the hood.

But hey Gman, the sky's not falling. After all, attempted murders don't count cause they were a bad shot.

You can be “as far right as they come” and still act like an emotional, hysterical liberal, as you’ve made clear on this thread

I can’t speak to any other library, but I challenge you to drive by the main library on Goodwood at any time that it’s open and see if you don’t have more than 20 people inside at a time. I drive past it multiple times a day and the parking lot is always packed.

I live by the Bluebonnet Branch and it’s literally always packed, also. I had no idea before having young kids. And, both libraries are truly awesome for kids.

You're typically hyper-histrionic but you're in overdrive ITT, even for you.
