I’m already enjoying the F1 TV access and have watched all the bonus/extra stuff they’ve put out pre-season and signed up or subscribed to all the FP1 FP2 etc on the Apple TV app

This year is our year!
Only a “Ferrari fan” because Seb drug me to them and at this point it’s been so long that they’re basically underdogs.

I just got notification that soil temps in the Baton Rouge area have reached 70 degrees now.

They’ve got so much work to do between now and then. They’ve got to be so embarrassed.

Meanwhile Audi is just cruising right along with their entirely new engine and everything right?
I feel like there’s no news about them.

Yeah, luckily for Honda they’ll get a chance to fix it. Maybe by the time Merc gets their advantage taken away Honda will have some more power to match.
Hard to believe they’ve seemingly dropped the ball this much and “Ford” Red Bull got it so right.
Maybe it was Red Bull all long?

That’s insane looking to see it flip over like that.
I always thought that some of the more extreme DRS from last year looked like they could be doing more than just reducing drag but this is on a whole other level.

Oh how about that? Ok. Good to know. Makes the removal of the MGU-H make even less sense. Again.

Was just reading an Athletic article about that. They said they tried changing the start procedure giving the drivers an extra 5s on the grid to rev up and spool the turbo and that it worked well today.
Those must be some windmill-sized turbos.

Nice, so to be clear we’re just looking at that half-plate covering the bottom of the exhaust pipe?

Right, I remember you mentioned that before. An even harder concept to wrap my head around.
Just heard the comment on a podcast talking about Honda’s engine saying how difficult it might be for them, Aramco has never made a synthetic fuel before, valvoline hasn’t made F1 oil in a long time and Honda didn’t come up with their own compression ratio trick.

Yeah, I think that probably adds up. They’ve taken away the “free” way they were harvesting energy. No telling what the difference in fuel now.
Anyone know if nascar lost MPG when they switched to Ethanol if they did in fact switch fuel types within the last decade?

MGU-H was just using heat sink to electricity. They were crazy complicated. But made F1 engines the most efficient engine ever made.
And by heat, we just mean “spent exhaust gasses spinning the turbo and generating electricity” right?
Crazy that they would get away from that technology in this formula with even more electricity required.
Especially considering Mercedes and Porsche are now using it in their road cars.
These cars are now just turbo hybrids, not much different than my truck.
Still doesn’t explain why they need to rev for 10-20 seconds to spool the turbo.
Seems more like they’re charging the battery by revving.

Saw that Red Bull’s chief designer quit the team this week.
Seems odd.
I still can’t wrap my head around this whole start procedure thing and having to rev for 10+ seconds “to spool the turbo”
Maybe I never understood how the MGU-H worked previously.
They used to have electric motors on the turbo that could recover power and help keep the turbo spooled before?
Now the big arse battery is powering what exactly?

Ended up killing a hog and a small doe with my circa 2013 PSE X-force compound bow.
It had been so long since I killed anything that I did pack a rifle with me half the time too but only ended up pulling the trigger with the bow.

Oh, I missed the cautions deal after stages.
I’ll say, the last 4 laps were entertaining but the big wrecks crashing out half the field all the time aren’t great.
