Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are bullshite. And I say that as someone who had excellent parents and am married with children as well.

Man, what the hell is wrong with you? You have the opportunity to have a nice, relaxing day where you cook a little something on the grill and watch some baseball. Yet you want to fall squarely into some family drama which you don’t need to be involved?

Just take your wife to lunch next Sunday when there will be no crowds. This is a golden opportunity!

My wife has finally started enforcing some boundaries with her mother. It's been tough but worth it.

Take as old as time. Any time the slightest bit of attention is placed on women they fight like crabs crawling out of a bucket to get more.

Nothing will ever approach the annual Thanksgiving turmoil thread, but this one has the potential to be legit if y'all do this right

If it were Father’s Day, and had two sons and seven grandkids between them, I’d rather just hang out at their home(s) and have a good lunch. I wouldn’t want to steal my kids away from their kids. Just bask in the enjoyment of the company and good food.

My MIL taking my wife away for the day sounds pretty awesome And I say that knowing I love my wife very much shite, go fishing

I think OP’s point of contention is that he also has kids, who presumably want to spend time with their mom and their mom with them.

Not to mention the reaction.... OPs wife is also a mother thus should get input into what her mothers day looks like.... but her mother seems to think she can control the whole thing and call anyone who doesnt go along w it selfish.

My MIL just flaked on lunch. Don’t know the reason, don’t really care. She’s really good at coming up with shitty excuses for not coming. We’re going out, so it’s not like I cooked extra.

My mom told us at Easter- ‘we’re getting crawfish. We’d love to have whoever wants to come, but if you want to do something else, that’s ok with me, too.’

We all live in the same town, so we see everybody pretty frequently.
