Had to have been rigged, right? I thought there was no way she could win this comp. I thought it was made for Kamu and his MMA reflexes.
Right now it's chicken salad add bacon on Rosemary Parm with lettuce, tomato, spicy mustard and pepper relish. I like pickles, too, but the vinegar in the mustard, peppers and pickles is too much.
When chicken salad is off the menu, it's #9, Club Supreme on Rosemary Parm with mayo, brown mustard, lettuce, tomato and pepper relish. Garden Salsa Sun Chips and a Pepsi Zero.

I don’t understand the purpose of collecting slums. Even if you pay $10-15k each plus property taxes each year adds up. Are they purchased with grant money? Or are they exempt because they’re a nonprofit?

Save that 12K and if a bad accident happens, settle with the doctors or pay them $25/month for a bunch of years.
When I had an emergency appendectomy back in 2019, which included an hour in the OR, a 2 total nights in the hospital (1 post op and another for IV antibiotics after an abscess), my insurance company was billed over $60,000. It’s not unreasonable to think that same surgery/stay would cost close to $75K.
If you have more than 1 emergency over that same 6 years, you’re not ahead by saving premiums anymore. Paying health insurance is one of the hardest bills to pay, but getting cancer and not having insurance would be way way worse.

Oldest is a Freshman at Nicholls. I bought him a car (2012 Nissan Xterra, $7,000), he pays me $75/month for the car and $75/month for car insurance. He took out loans for school, but we're covering the note while he's in school, paying off what we can. At 2.64%, I'd rather borrow the money instead of committing a chunk of emergency fund. We cover health insurance, cell phone and he gets a little cash and a tank of gas pretty much every time we see him. We'll also pay for his gas to come home when he wants to.
He's currently looking for a job, but has some savings (not as much as I would like him to have, but it's his money), and he paid his bills through September before he left, so he's got some time. He's responsible for his own gas and spending money while away. I don't expect him to work full time, but I don't think 20-30 hours/week is asking too much.

$3.21 at my local Sam's Club, but I paid $3.69 at Billy's in Opelousas yesterday. I'm pretty sure they can charge whatever price they want to, and people will pay it to get boudin at the same stop.
re: Why do they not make blueberry juice?

The Ocean Spray Mixed Berry Juice is very blue berry heavy. It’s really good and it’s sweetened with Stevia, so it’s low carb.

Fat Tuesday’s, a local Sandwich shop in Bossier and downtown Shreveport makes some of the best homemade poboy rolls that would be great for a Philly. Sturdy bread, but very soft/chewy. They don’t have a Philly on the menu, but they should.
After that, I want provolone lining the bread AND whiz, with plenty of peppers/onions.

re: Cremation or Burial?
Posted by LSUGUMBO on 8/13/26 at 3:22 pm to KemoSabe65
My MIL wants a casket and burial- she has a specific Life Insurance policy that will cover the cost. When we had to make the decision about her sister/my wife's aunt, my wife was very upset at the thought of cremation, but since nobody in the family had the money for embalming and a casket, we didn't really have a choice.
IIRC, basic embalming, casket, vault, digging the hole, sealing the vault and filling the hole was well over $10,000.
My parents have already filled out the paperwork to donate their bodies to science- I'm thankful for that, since I'm sure I'll be the one to handle all of it when the time comes.
I told my wife to cremate me- I hope she listens, but I'm sure she won't, as usual

Is she bipolar? Just a few days ago, she was all in a tizzy about her game and how she’s playing all wrong, yet she’s not changing it at all. She sucks, but her fake cry meltdowns are kind of good TV.

Firm believer in having a pair of dogs and/or pets. Human/dog interaction and love is great, but animals need each other, too. We’ll always have 2 dogs.

I felt like I was way behind the ball when I started exploring our options in April. He had some scholarships (not TOPS), but I knew he was going to need loans. I don’t know what changed from April to August, but the first preapprovals I got were for anywhere from 7-10%, and I was shitting bricks. We ended up at 2.64% thank God.
We were definitely behind on applying for every scholarship that we could find, and I plan on starting earlier for next year for sure. He also decided on a school late, so that was another problem that we won’t have next year.

Stanley Tucci's series Searching for Italy.
I have really enjoyed this series- it makes me want to go back to Italy as an adult and eat the random street, farm to table restaurant foods and just not ask questions on what it is until later.
My wife is not a fan of food shows, so I have to watch them without her, but I'll add the new countries to the list. I could watch Eva Longoria all day long, food or not.

Per my YT algorithm, Rich Eisen seems to hit on nostalgia a lot, and I'm all about it. But any time he pops up on YT it's clips of him interviewing famous actors and asking them about their classic movies and certain scenes or backstories. It's usually a solid watch.
I watch/listen to his show daily and it’s great. He has built a great cast of co-hosts, and his guests are usually can’t miss. On more than one occasion, I have come home to pull up an interview clip to show my wife because it references something we have watched or talked about- Seinfeld (the sea was angry that day), Rob Lowe, Steve Harvey, etc. This was Sportscenter has been a fun watch, too. I wasn’t expecting him and Dan to go blue, but the F-Bombs seemed to make it more candid. Really enjoyable.
I won't repeat recommendations, but here are a few that haven't been mentioned yet:

Boudin Casserole- had a pound of smoked boudin that needed to be eaten, so I sautéed some Trinity, steamed some cauli rice, added cream cheese and pepper jack and the boudin. Served with a Caesar salad. Delicious and low(er) carb

I love my One Blade for shaving my neck and cleaning up my lines. Can’t beat it for $40, and I just have my barber clean up the lines when I get my haircut. Now I need to figure out what I’m going to do with all my leftover Mach5 blades that I’ll never use again
