Only thing he took serious was games played, so he could guarantee his money last season.

I actually think we end up making a very good deal with the Hawks that all Pels fans are surprisingly excided about.

And then the league denies it.

Hoping my man Herb is traded on draft night to one of several "serious" playoff teams. I won't give my preferences...but...I definitely have a couple in mind.

Bottom line...great for Herb...great for the team Herb goes to...and (should be) great for the Pelicans.

Ohh...and great for Dinky...although I like to think he's being objective in his opinion on this subject.

Please don’t trade Him for the 8th pick. It’ll feel like we got played

If we can get a Bane-esque return for Trey I'm for it.

Then get 2 more 1sts for Herb

How good is Trey?

This is where there is a major division amongst fans. They tried to make Murphy a focus of the offense for the past 3 years. He's been given carte blanc to jack up as many shots as he wants. His numbers have been ok, but they are star level and we have been God awful the past 2 years (where he had his best success).

The truth is he needs to be reigned in and be a contributor to a system. Probably more as a 3rd option or specialist. Him throwing up 8+ 3pt is probably not the best idea every game, and he's fallen into bad habits. If he stays here, I think he stagnated or even gets worse. This is ignoring his injury history and poor body development. He shouldn't be missing 20% of games every year, especially being a finesse player that avoids contact.

I honestly thought Bey played better last year and I don't see moving Murphy as a huge lose. It needs to happen now though. He's been dangled too much..

My buddy and I legit argued about Trey’s role. My argument was if you throw Trey into the Finals, on either the Spurs or Knicks, where does he rank? My buddy thought he would be the second options on both teams, which I thought was insane. My point was I could see him being a third option at best, but maybe even down to like 4th or 5th.

Trey's a 3rd option on a good playoff team

In the finals would probably be the Spurs 3rd or 4th I guess

He doesn't even start for the Knicks

That is a tough one, since both teams role players are focused on defense. He should start for both, but he'd be replacing high energy 3D guys (Hart and Champagnie). Those guys are specialists that had big games. I think that Murphy can do that, but his defense would have to jump massively.

Weird thing happened in the Finals and playoffs. 3pt shooting wasn't the priority and attempts came down. It was about getting effective shots. The Celtics got run early (highest volume team) and others teams seemed to take notice. The Knicks shot about 34 a game and seemed to be hunting the best looks. It's a copycat league and I'm wondering how this affects the league going forward..

Marc Spears: "The Pelicans are trying to trade Trey Murphy. I texted him the other day. He was kind of laughing about all these rumors. He's in France right now. But I do think the right, I think the thing is this: it probably will depend on who's sitting there at 11 when that pick comes up. And there's probably a certain amount of players that Joe Dumars and Troy Weaver have on their list that could be attractive to their franchise. If the Warriors can get Trey Murphy, I'm all for trading that pick for Trey Murphy."

I think he could, given his length, but he'd have to buy into their defense.

He has the body/length/switchability on D

The Knicks are not built like a normal team, though. They did what Toronto and a couple other teams tried for years and failed (I reference TOR b/c OG was on that team as a centerpiece).

Trading Trey based on a pick that has a low % to become as good as Trey is madness

you know trey was drafted at 17 right. does that mean at 17 they had an even lower percent chance to get a good player and it worked out. Draft is a crap shoot, every year there are players picks in the teens, that out perform players picked earlier.

Trey has done all he can do for us. Were you happy they held on to BI as long as they did, or were you mad they didn't get maximum value by trading him earlier. It can't be both ways. Trade him while teams are fighting over him get as much as you can for him now.
