The Pistons aren’t swapping Ivey and Duren for Hawkins straight up, they’d need some more compensation.

They can have a 2nd from the Jazz for Ivey, but that's all they're getting. If Ivey wasn't a former top 5 pick nobody would expect other teams to give up much value for an inefficient combo guard that can't shoot or defend. Granted, I'm making that assessment from just looking at the stats, but the stats are bad enough that the eye test isn't going to change much. Just looking at the stats he reminds me of a less efficient Elfrid Payton, who got a 2nd for the Magic when they realized he wasn't going to ever be a starting caliber PG and cut their losses.

If Detroit hadn't changed GMs I would agree that Detroit would overvalue Ivey too much for him to be properly valued as a throw in. But when regime change happens, the whole roster will probably turn over outside of Cade over the next 2 years. Also, since they have exceptions for the Detroit to Utah end of things, you can do the deal without Ivey, I just thought it might make it more interesting to the Jazz.

I'm fine with Collins. He seems like he figured out how to shoot the 3 again last year with his sideways finger.

Both Duren and Ivey have more value individually than Hawkins. Especially Duren.

saw a crazy trade proposal this morning, with us adding both Markkanen and Kessler(.LINK ). But we would give us a ton (Ingram, Hawkins and 4 1sts). That seems steep, but that puts us into pretty high contention and addresses all needs..

I disagree on Ivey but let’s not get stuck on him, consider him withdrawn from the proposed trade.

Considering Duren has started a decent amount you’re right that he should have more value than Hawkins. I’m just trying to figure out how the Jazz get a center after trading all of theirs away if their goal is to be competitive, which it would be if they are keeping Lauri and trading for BI.

IMO Lauri doesn’t really make sense for us, as I would assume our hope is that Trey is a similar player to Lauri eventually and I don’t know if that is a player prototype that you want a redundancy of.

Ivey doesn't have any value at all. But Hawkins really doesn't either.

Lauri is a volume shooter who can't create his own shot. He would fit but wouldn't put up nearly the same stats in Nola.

Why would we give up THAT much flexibility for a guy who is also as injury prone as Ingram (233 games in 4 years; Ingram's 225 in 4 years) and going to ask for the max as well?

We also become this wildly top-ended team that costs way too much unless we plan on moving on from CJ (with no replacement).

Dejounte Murray
CJ McCollum
Herb Jones
Zion Williamson
Walker Kessler

Bench:
Trey Murphy
Lauri Markkanen

Wow Suns signed Tyus Jones for vet minimum. That is a huge get for them.

He priced himself out of the market and pretty much picked his destination since he wasn't doing to get paid.

They’ve had a pretty good offseason considering what they had to work with.

Ishbia is not afraid to spend money and that’s exactly what you want from an owner.

A rich owner that’s willing to spend is one of the best competitive advantages you can have in the NBA

I don't believe this at all. I prefer a competent businessesman that chooses the correct stewards and holds them reasonably responsible. Throwing money at problems does not fix them..

I still say I want to see a Murray/Herb/BI/Trey/Zion lineup, and if that is a lineup that can close games at an elite level, then i want to move forward with it. If they can commit to playing smart team defense and just slow people down enough, they'll kick arse b/c they would destroy teams offensively

I think that needs to be the closing lineup for sure.

If the other 4 can knock down 3s around 38%, that might be the scariest lineup offensively.

Defensively, would struggle vs physical centers like embiid, jokic.

Vet minimum? Thought this guy was awesome and MLE worthy?

If they Suns got Tyus Jones on a minimum why didn’t we sign him for the TMLE?!?!?

He could be the missing piece for this team!!

(Hope my cosplay is believable)

We have 4 solid guards with Hawkins as well. We need a center 10x more. Hopefully Zach Lowe is right about his suspicions that we have something lined up once LM signs his extension
