Just watched first episode last night and enjoyed it. Loved the simplicity of it, the “quiet”, and getting those tidbits of Carmy’s life.

Yeah it filled in a lot of backstory. And the end scene where he finishes the dessert with the food allergy and it goes out to… Sidney in the restaurant .. my brain melted in that moment

Oh I liked that finale a lot

So much there

My eyes started to sweat when Chef Terry saw and acknowledged Richie at the funeral dinner. That was such a beautiful second of the episode

Classic cliffhanger that you could see from a mile away.

I think Tina is my favorite character on this show. I just really like her story.

Not really.

Agreed. My least favorite episode of all three seasons so far. Just not my cup of tea.

Wait until you watch episode 8 of season 3. I had to fast forward a lot of it. The mom irritates me that much.

I was asking myself why I love this show so much because it gives me so much anxiety

I actually think that is what makes the show so good is that in so many instances it is easy to share the anxiety of the characters. Watching season three I actually found much of it to be cathartic.

I'm in the same boat Carmy is a very pretentious and miserable person to be around. He is terrible. But I love the show.

I would agree that Carmy comes across that way, but I don’t think it is at the root who he is. It’s a combination of dealing with his mother and his experiences under Chef David who drove him to that.

I’ll add that I thought a key scene to the whole show was when Sugar got in her car and the tape came on with the five different types of family members of alcoholics/abusives.

Yeah surprisingly that might have been my favorite episode so far. I wish they would do a whole Neil episode even a Fak family spinoff would be a great way to go if they ever do one.

Does everyone else see that ridiculous Thermodor Bottom Freezer Refrigerator ad about 5 times per episode? Who the hell needs theater style lighting and 4 cameras in their fridge? It’s insanity.

Well, I just finished season 3. Apparently I'm in the minority. I just did not enjoy this season nearly as much as the first two. Actually that's not accurate. I didn't enjoy this season at all.

The major plot points, both new and old, just didn't have much substantive progression. The background gaps that were filled in - which seems to be the entire point of the season - were kind of trivial details to me that didn't warrant so much time. That god-awful 15 minute conversation between chefs sitting around the table waxing poetic about their spiritual connection to food was hard to sit through. It was basically 10 episodes of meandering to me.

I'll still watch the next season, but I won't be looking out for it.

Hoping this is the final season and end with ya boy getting 3 stars.

I think if/when he gets a star he goes the Marco Pierre White route and gives them back.

"Although White worked for seventeen years to pursue his ambition, he ultimately found that, in spite of his accomplishments, recognition and fame, his career did not provide him with adequate returns in his personal life. So, in 1999, he retired and returned his Michelin stars."

Just finished the season. This may not be a popular opinion, but I honestly have some mixed feelings. It may sound weird, but I think the episodes were better than the season itself. All the episodes were at least good, and some where outstanding, but I still came away feeling like the series as a whole was just fine. Great television that I didn't necessarily love.

I think the show may have leaned into its own hype a little too much for its own good. Felt like they hammered home the misery and character moments and didn't move the story as much or as effectively as I would have liked. Maybe getting a little carried away with the guest stars as well.

I agree with you. Some of these episodes were the best of the series, but the whole thing did kinda feel like a string of bottle-episodes more than it did a season. The goals of Season 1 and 2 were clear from the start, but I'm not sure there was even a goal in this one.

"Napkins". Solid storytelling with a heartwarming callback.

I think the character development was necessary, and hopefully means that the series will go on for more than just 1 more year. I enjoyed the first and last episode the best, but was a little confused about the ending. Was Sidney relieved or having a panic attack? The Review had 4 stars under the headline, but she didn’t seem happy about it. Guess we’ll see in Season 4…

I agree. Starting to get entitled and should be just soaking up knowledge and experience. Her voice man.. but she is a good actress.. and her character does provide balance

I love this show! I have to ask, how many of you have eaten at a restaurant like The Bear? I am just curious if the food is mind blowing. Some dishes look great and others do not impress me that much and the portions seem like they would piss me off. I am just wondering that since I probably have the pallet of a garbage eating racoon if I would think it was all overrated or if it would indeed impress me.

Maybe it’s just me, but I thought almost the entire season was a fricking disaster. I feel like not a whole lot actually happened. Many episodes I got a headache.
