Sydney messed up the online ordering system and blamed Carmey for getting mad.

Still trying to watch the 2nd season as I really didn't like how they put all the blame on Carmy and literally none of it on Sydney or Marcus

That is on Carmey

The system was entirely Sydney's idea and then it went to shite, just like Carmey expected.
Sydney constantly bitches to him to change things, finally did one thing and it blew up in their face
quote:
She knows it should be on the menu and is fighting for it she doesn't "think she has some ownership" of the restaurant.
I havent watched season 2 in a while but I vageuly remember her looking at him and saying the words "this is OUR restaurant right?" or some shite.
Like nah. It's not. You're my employee.

Also she does have real experience she's literally Carmey's Sous-chef.
She's worked under him for less than 6 months (when they were a sandwich shop) and now are considering her an experienced sous chef now that they have changed to a luxury restaurant?
Interdasting

i think that did happen but i'm not 100% sure.
if it did then yes she was wrong.

IF he did get a star (or more) they would have to have a 4th season to show him losing it/them. That is the arc.
Agreed! I usually love a happy ending, but Carmy isn't the kind of guy who gets one. I figure he's going to do great and then come unglued at some point at which time he will lose it all and Sydney will take over.

Sydney is the best character on the show.
She isn't the best character on the show (Cousin), but she's a lot better than Claire.

Personally I find her character annoying but after watching both seasons again recently she really compliments Carmy in the kitchen.

Claire is stupid hot tho.... but I agree she's the flawless moral compass character to a fault almost.
Carmy of course will need to almost hit rock bottom before he realizes it - I wonder if it will be too late.

Her character is annoying but it is needed for the show.
She's an aspiring chef who lucks into getting a job at a sandwich shop with what the show explains as possibly one of the best chefs in the world.
That chef goes through certain dramas and decides to re-imagine the sandwich shop and turn it into a luxury Michelin rated restaurant.
She helps him run the kitchen and change the menu and somehow thinks she has some ownership in this restaurant now and her ideas should be heard and be pushed into action even though she has no real experience and the guy shes bitching to is tGOAT
My only issue with her is the seeming contradiction between how the show wants us to feel about her sometimes (undervalued, understandably aggrieved at not being considered a true partner, etc.) and the show's reality of her (failed small time caterer who is pretty inarguably undeserving, there by virtue of pure luck and objectively questionable decisions by Carmy).

Hopefully it's better than that trash that was season 2
2 of the best episodes of 2023 TV were in season 2

Some of the shite to make up drama is a bit much. I've lived the toxic family restaurant life from 12 to about 25 and then just restaurant life since. I enjoy the show but there are times it is too much to suspend belief for the sake of the story. The family dinner didn't resonate with me because it was just too over the top. They went full retard there. They could have taken the approach that Scrubs did with the attention to detail and make it a love letter to the industry while telling their story.

I think that was by design to frame it from how Carmy remembered it and his own personal perspective, especially since he’s dealing with his own demons/trauma.

Interesting. I'll approach it from that angle and see if it changes for me

Great first episode.
Love how they’ve done it .. that ending… this show is fricking elite
Carmy and Luca think Olivia Coleman is tough.. they wouldn’t last a morning shelling purple hulled peas and butter beans watching price is right with my grandparents . They mercilessly called me slow and roasted me and I was just a kid because it took me longer to fill my pans up .
That scene brought back a flood of memories with people who are no longer here

You just gave me flashbacks to when I was 10 and visiting my grandparents.
