Really feels like we should have gotten both battles of Tumbleton this season.

Inflation or no, I find it absolutely impressive that this film has done so well at the box office considering it's R-rated and based on a Greek epic poem that's almost 3,000 years old.

Honestly Oppenheimer’s gross is one of the craziest I’ve ever seen. Any other director that makes a 3 hour, mostly black and white movie about that subject matter and it’s making about 200 million tops.
I saw somewhere that this was at 988 million through Wednesday, which would mean it probably crossed a billion yesterday, and may well be Nolan’s highest grossing movie by the end of the weekend.

Think I'm going to have to give in to spoilers after the finale here. Can't wait 4+ more years for resolution.

I think there’s only one season after this, so probably just two years.

The Greens paraded around an enemy dragon. They’re not going to parade around one of their own dead dragons.

Oh right, silly mistake on my part.
quote:

This isn't book spoilers but just to clarify this really isn't the case with a dragon. There is a bond made obviously but nowhere in the lore does it say that a dragon can go months without eating or drinking, or breathing for that matter, and live. It's still needs to fall in the bounds of the reality of the world it exists in. Him showing up when Aegon is in need isn't a stretch but the fact that he was able to show up is the ridiculous part.

My response was about him showing up. I do agree it seems silly he could survive so long without food.

The way he's starting to lash out at criticism feels less like confidence and more like self-awareness creeping in.

He’s not doing that.

Did people actually watch the interview?

Nolan is 1/4 out of his last 4

3 of his last 4 are 3 of his most critically acclaimed movies, by the way.

It’s still horrendously idiotic that the biggest antagonist to the throne (and his dragon) would fall hundreds, if not thousands, of feet from the air, get burnt and crushed, and both still live. Then add the fact that his dragon magically comes back to life at the perfect time after “dying.” The storyline is just stupid.

I have to disagree, especially with the bold. I think it has been pretty well established that the connection the riders have with their dragons is somewhat magical, bordering on telepathic at times. Similar to Starks and their dire wolves. I don't see Sunfyre coming to Aegon's rescue as being any more unrealistic than Ghost coming to Jon's aid or Summer jumping in to save Bran. Also, it was clear Aegon knew Sunfyre was still alive.

FIFY Keep up the good fight buddy! You, madking, flats and SEKige might find a 5th member to join your Odyssey is a failure band.

I understand not liking a movie, but I don’t understand whining about other people liking said movie. It’s like people are taking the dismissal of their identity politics as a personal attack.
Define “selling out” here. Do you just mean not caring about race in his casting?
quote:

Uh...wut? He's more popular/powerful than ever in the wake of this film.

He’s personally going to pocket at least 100 million dollars from this movie and get at least three Oscar nominations. That should teach him a lesson.
quote:

Pretty amazing how he's managed to throw away all his built up goodwill on this mid, overhyped vanity project.
I see in this thread that the people most upset about the success of the Odyssey are looking for another battle to fight.

I’m not even sure what this thread is about. It certainly isn’t about engaging with Nolan’s quote.
If that’s all the Sheepstealer plot was leading to, that’s pretty rough.
So penultimate episode of the penultimate season. Surely this is going to be an eventful episode, right?
So obviously it’s going to pass 1 billion and become Nolan’s highest grossing film. I guess the next thing to see is if it will become the highest grossing R rated movie of all time as well.

I'd have had four 10 episode seasons, with the Gullet and aftermath being the finale of S2, the God's Eye in S3 and the Hour of the Wolf/Aegon 2 Death/Aegon 3 crowning after a big Rhaenyra death climax to finish it. Alicent and Rhaenyra would be way shittier than they are, and I'd replace their endless boring scenes with more skirmishes between Cole and the Wolves, as well as fleshing out Black Aly and other minor but integral characters.

Thanks, I need to read Fire and Blood.

shite take. There is absolutely no way they could have crammed this whole story into 2 seasons. 40 would have been cutting it close and you're seeing the bad effect of 34.

Interesting. I thought it was dragging at because they didn’t have the story for the amount of episodes they were trying to fill. I was thinking it should have maybe been 3 seasons of 10 episodes each, with the first two episodes of this season being the end of last season, but I haven’t read the book, so I could be way off base.

How would you have structured each season? I’m assuming season 1 largely the same.

No idea why we are even considering these two guys.

Welbeck as a backup to Pedro makes some sense if you want to move Jackson and Delap, which I think (and hope) they do.

Henderson makes no sense other than being a leadership guy.
