They dislike LSU,
It’s hilarious that LSU is life to some people. Especially to most that never attended.
Not many Isidore Newman grads go to LSU.

Best high school player I've ever seen. Thank God I was in middle school when he was in high school and didn't have to face him. I wouldn't have wanted to be sitting at safety and his huge fast arse coming at me. Nope.

Not only that, LSU got a commitment from Josh Booty who was at worst the 1a) QB recruit with Peyton that year

One of those is not like the others. No kid who can get into all of those schools is choosing Ole Miss.
I never said they were getting into all those schools. Just that the new money types who associate with the old money elect for the historically liberal arts school appeal, just in public flagship form.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. At least in New Orleans, the Comus/rex crowd primarily goes to UGA or Alabama, TCU, SMU, UVA for the particularly bright and a minority go to Vandy, Rhodes or Sewanee (the liberal arts schools). They aren’t going to Swarthmore. Few go to LSU and not many of the Comus types go to Ole Miss, either. Unless the timeframe of “new money” you are talking about is circa 1865.

quote:It funny you say that as I knew three people that lived on Palmer ave and could literally throw a baseball to Tulane's campus...... When I was having discussions with a soon to be fired(he didn't know it was coming) Tulane coach - I told these 3 kids a guy and girl my age that I might be going to Tulane.... TU was their 10th choice..... UVA, Vandy and Rhodes were their choices..

I am sure glassman knows the families..... one even had two kids go to rhodes..... all 3 families had money that pre-dated the civil war....

quote:Having had many discussions with him in person ... INCLUDING when my dad and one of my uncles were dear friends of one of his team mates - Archie actually was real pleasant to me as an 8 year old wearing an LSU jersey at a Saints holiday gathering - he even complimented LSU qb mike miley..... His disdain for LSU is way way over rated.
So why such disdain for LSU?

Isn't he also the answer to the question of which former NFL QB had two sons that both won two Super Bowls?

I’m not a saints fan but did root for Archie when I was kid. Also big fan of Chuck Muncie when he played for saints. Never could root for him when he went to chargers.

The opposite is true. New Orleans is a beached whale the rest of us pay for.

New Orleans is not really connected with the rest of LA.
There are definitely a lot of transplants and even some locals like to tap into the “we’re our own state” trope but at the end of the day it’s more connected than somewhere like Shreveport.

Because Archie and Olivia belong in New Orleans and NOLA loves them back.

Wonder if the op will care where Cooper’s daughters go to college?

All I know is that Eli tripped on fourth down. I was there. It was glorious.

Have you ever been to the Mississippi delta ?

The Book of Manning was on last night for about the umpteenth time, and I had it on for awhile.
Archie put it forth in that documentary. He said that when he and Olivia moved to New Orleans when he was drafted by the Saints, their intent was for him to play his pro career and then they would move back to the Delta once his playing career was done. But, once they had kids (beginning in 1974 with Cooper), they set down roots in New Orleans. Eli was born in 1981 while Archie was still with the Saints, so by the time Eli graduated from Newman in 1999, Archie and Olivia Manning had been living in New Orleans most of their lives. Cooper has made his home here, so this is the Manning home base.
Good for us in the metro New Orleans area, too- the Mannings are beloved by us, and give back:
