It really is.
Archie went to Ole Miss. two of his sons went to Ole Miss and the other decided Tennessee. Literally no connection to LSU.
They grew up around Tulane fans who hate LSU.
Why anyone thinks any of them would end up at LSU is weird.

Look I’m a huge LSU fan, but I grew up in the stick and it’s in my blood.
That is not the same for a ton of people in the state. Go to Lafayette and a lot over there are not huge lsu fans and I would say the same for New Orleans. They have Tulane and send a lot of kids to universities and colleges out of state. No reason to hate on it, it’s just what it is. So, the guys spends his entire career in New Orleans and made a ton of contacts that probably provided investment and business opportunity, why would he leave? Also, go to southern Mississippi, huge Saints fans. I would say the Saints are not just a Louisiana team but a gulf coast team.
Also, seems like it worked out for him and the kids. Would I prefer he support LSU more, absolutely but not going to fault a guy who grew up in Mississippi and went to Ole Miss to just abandon that either.

Why would he leave? I don’t understand the Manning hate on here sometimes. He and his family are not LSU fans, but that’s fine. If you have the money to live in the garden district or lakeview type areas of NO it’s pretty nice. He is beloved by Saints fans, and was able to profit off of that to a large degree after his playing career. He’s certainly not the only dude that played for the Saints and never left. Very few of those guys sons have gone to LSU if they too played football.

There's a lot of Ole Miss in New Orleans society in the GD. Look at the debs during Mardi Gras for the old line krewes. They go to Ole Miss, Virginia, Vandy, places like that. They never go to LSU and rarely go to Tulane. Ole Miss is stuffy and snooty and arrogant. Regular Mississippians rarely go to Ole Miss; they go to Mississippi State.

People don’t realize this (mainly because they don’t publicize it), but Faulkner never taught at Ole Miss. He was the postmaster (i.e., the mailman) in Oxford.

What specific evidence of this disdain do you have? For each of their kids, LSU was not the best fit at the time they made their decisions. Booty had committed to LSU when Peyton was a senior. LSU had several top-notch quarterbacks, including Rohan, when Eli was a senior. And Arch just was not a good fit.

LSU and Ole Miss were huge rivals. We hated each other. Him getting drafted by the Saints didn’t make him a Tiger fan. A lot of players typically stay in the area they made home, raised kids, made friends, relationships and never leave. The answer to your question though is I believe he knew his best option for a post player career was here.
