Why?

Are you kidding?

I had to double check the dates and make sure someone didn’t bump a thread from January

On the chance you’ve been in coma or out of the country the Saints signed a RB in free agency for 4/$52M, not even Mickey Loomis would be stupid enough to draft a RB at 8 after that

Like Democratic Presidents have always done?

I would agree the Democrats/ left in general tend to be worse of failing to grasp that massive expansion of Federal government power will one day be used by the other party, a lesson crystal clear with this President, The question is should we oppose overreach as a matter of principle or do you just oppose it when it’s the other side because that’s a really terrible way to govern.

If it's broad, and it is a restriction of general funds then it might stand up to a challenge.

This would be a disaster on many levels.

However, it's worth a fight

It seems to be the biggest problem is some, most older men, don’t like it. People not liking the transfer portal or NIL doesn’t make them a problem per se. Someone need to articulate the downsides, how it’s harmful and on the players or sport.

But, this here ain't none of his business.

Of course it’s not.

quote:

Then whose business is it?

The NCAA and or the schools themselves. It’s fricking amazing how one Game Show host becomes President and suddenly the right is in favor of the Government intruding into every aspect of life

quote:

I mean we would all agree some guard rails need to be put in place here right?

Define guardrails.

This executive order is designed to strong arm universities into "voluntary" compliance by withholding funds. Schools cannot both simultaneously claim to be private organizations hat can do whatever they want while also taking tax payer money.

I really can’t wait until the next time there’s a D in the White House and they use arguments like this
You don’t even know what the insults you hurl at people even mean do you?

That’s it, just keep moving the target

Never change Ironyking, never change :rotflmao:
This douche should have better things to worry about, like the stupid war he started. the President was never meant to micromanage ever aspect of life, i actually remember when that was a major tenet of conservatism/GOP politics :casty:

I didn't know that, and I couldn't tell! I've never seen Dominic West in anything else.

Was it S2 when he was going under cover and was practicing a bad-fake British accent? That has a whole new light if you know he’s British
He’s in 300 and Rock Star is pretty good.

quote:

I knew Idris Elba was British going in, and I thought he did a pretty good job with his accent.

I didn’t know him and if I have one nit pick with the Wire it’s his accent, he just doesn’t sound “hood” imo. But it’s such a great character that can be overlooked

This sounds funny, but I'm having a major problem understanding Cignetti (Littlefinger)

Guess it depends on when you first saw some one, I had no idea he wasn’t American when I saw him in GOT
I knew Dominic West (Mcnaulty) was British going in from Rock Star.

I also didn’t know Lt/Capt/Major Winters in Band of Brothers was British

Are you tied down and forced to watch like Alex in A Clockwork Orange?

If not pick up one of these, universal remote, $8.69 at WalMart, probably cheaper with your employee discount as a door greeter.

What you call a money grab I call a love letter to the fans

Another thing I thought is, the R40 tour was 2015, they were only 62. They’ve been doing it for their entire lives.
It’s understandable Neil wanted to walk away and spend time with his wife and young daughter. But for Alex and Geddy they weren’t ready for retirement, there’s only some many book tours you can do, after 10 years I’m sure boredom was a factor and at 72 it’s pretty now or never to perform again.
quote:

They ain't playing for free.

No one does, that doesn’t make it a “money grab” which kind of implies mailing it in or desperately needing cash which I don’t think is the case.

listening to interviews over the years I think Geddy and Alex wanted to keep recording and touring but Neil did not, they had to talk him into to doing the R40 tour, Neil wanted to retire after the Clockwork Angels tour. They have also mentioned they did not get to do a real tribute to Neil after his passing because Covid hit. When they played together for the first time in years at the Taylor Hawkins tribute I believe them when they say they were rejuvenated, I think they just want to play again, so they do a tour to celebrate 50 years and honor Neil, nothing wrong with that even though they will make money.

*And please note the cost of the tickets is distorted by secondary markets, the face value is inline with concerts these days.

If you watched CBB in the 80s Duke was just another team, nothing special. Then ESPN got big, and Vitale got big and suddenly Duke was the "It girl" for the Network

Duke didn’t win anything in the 80s. KD first Final Four was 86 so yeah they were “just another team”

while Coach K straight got caught paying Zion. and look what happened.

Did he? I’d love to see that proof

Already selectively adding new qualifiers

Classic Irony King, I wonder if you even understand what these phrases mean  it’s not a selection qualifier because I never said the SEC never good at MBB at any point in history.

This however is selective qualifier

quote:

06 to 2014

2006 had 2 SEC teams in the Final Four and the Champions 2000-2005 which you left out had only 1 FF, 1 runner up and 0 titles.

But again no one is arguing the SEC has never been strong in MBB but it did fall off. Thats undeniable. The commissioner hired a consultant because it had fallen off, even with Kentucky winning a title and making multiple FFs been 2008-2016 when Trangesse was hired and I’d argue it worked even if the solution was obvious and Jimmy Ott said the same

quote:

1990s

:you know that was a long time ago right? We were talking about this century

quote:

How did that happen?

Well Arkansas joined the conference in 1992 and they were loaded under Nolan Richardson for a while. Pitino had Kentucky rolling peaking with an all time great team in 96 he went back to the NBA a year later but left a team so loaded Tubby Smith won a title. This was before the transfer portal btw.

Not sure what massive point you think you are making, no one ever said at no point in history was the SEC goos in MBB but it did fall off for a bit, Sankey hired Mike Tragresse (former Big East commissioner) to consult about improving MBB ffs  his basic advise was put more resources into *please note that was not about spending on players, but on the overall programs. The biggest piece of that is of course coaches but also into facilities and the overall program. The player budgets is new and a separate issue. I would argue LSU hiring Wade the first time was part of part of the overall conference putting more emphasis and resources into MBB and it’s clearly been better since then.
