Imagine being an LSU player, moving to Florida, then having the Florida fans hate you because you didn’t push your kids to play for Florida. This whole thing is ridiculous.

Actually I can tell you the kids certainly didn’t hate LSU. Cooper wanted to commit to Virginia but George Welch pulled his scholarship offer, Ole Miss would always keep a scholarship for the son of Archie Manning. Mike archer was at virginia and he quit over that and took a job at Kentucky.
When Peyton was a senior we had curley Hallman as head coach who said it was a waste of time to recruit him plus Josh Booty was in that class and he was the highly prized QB recruit. If we had a coach who didn’t go 2-9 we might have signed him anyway with Booty. Peyton said he wasn’t shying from competition. We had Boots Garland working with Peyton to improve his speed.
When Eli came up you had the same thing Brock Berlin was coming up, of course we got neither.
And I know for a fact we had a strong chance to get Arch as a transfer but Sloan (not kelly) went in a different direction. If nuss had gone pro after his junior year i think it would have happened.
Actually in talking to Archie he wasn’t heavily recruited and only offered by delta State and ole miss for both baseball and football.
Most people won’t believe any if this but i was there and can testify to the truth.

LSU does not represent Louisiana as a whole. I know it means a lot to you but to the average citizen, colleges in a state don’t mean much in a day to day basis. I’d bet your average Louisiana citizen never thinks about LSU.

He made a home here. Well known and well liked. He was a sports analyst with the Saints and had a car dealership at one time.

I don’t understand this comment. What do you mean by this?
I took it as meaning New Orleans doesn’t support LSU to the level the rest of the state does.

such disdain for LSU
Because Archie pwned LSU football in 1968 and 1969. As a Rebel QB playing for our chief rival, he made superior Tiger football teams, and Cholly Mac's top-rated run defense look silly.

They dislike LSU
Live in LOLA and you'll quickly learn there as many that hate LSU as they do love LSU

Because Archie pwned LSU football in 1968 and 1969.

Fail.

I went to Tulane- many of my Uptown classmates had no clue about and rarely traveled into other parts of Louisiana. They had a level of disdain for the rest of the state and did not like to be associated with it culturally or politically. It’s a real disconnect though not across the board.

I have no beef with the rest of your post, but nah
I love the Mannings. Grew up going to Saints games in the 80s and my dad loved telling us Archie stories and had some mutual associates so we got to meet him more than once, was always generous with his time. Seemed humble and almost a little embarrassed by the attention he’d get anywhere he went. Maybe a little annoyed too, but I can’t blame him there
How anyone can hate on Peyton or Eli I don’t really understand. Loved watching Peyton for decades in the NFL and rooted for Colts over Pats for years. Tracy Porter made sure I had no animosity to Peyton for all time
Saints and LSU owned Eli (except for 01, thanks Saban
), so no hard feelings there. Hell my high school basketball team beat him at Newman senior year too so I got no beef with him on any level Both have proven to be really funny and entertaining post career too.
No love for UT obviously but rooting for Arch to do well against anyone but LSU. Can definitely see why he chose to go there and has handled himself really well imo. Not sure if Shough is the long term answer in NOLA but was always hoping we’d get to see Manning in a Saints jersey. Dad has been gone for almost 20 years now but damn he would have gotten a kick out of that

What does this have to do with the entire state of Louisiana? You know tons of Louisianans don’t care about LSU right?

False

Yes. LSU was a favorite in both those games, and was up by double digits in both those games in the second half, before Archie slipped into a phone booth, slipped into his Superman outfit and proceeded to grind down the Tiger defenders.
