Because Brick & Maggie from Cat on a Hot Tin Roof lived in New Orleans. Archie and Olivia are no different than most Ole Miss fans. They think they're living in a Tennessee Williams play. The Tuohy's already had Memphis.

I took it as meaning New Orleans doesn’t support LSU to the level the rest of the state does

That really just goes for the waspy uptowners who are Tulane/Ole Miss folk and the Bywater residents who would probably pick A&M if they knew that college sports existed at all.

Sec schools recruit heavily in New Orleans too. I know 2 families with kids starting college this fall. 1 going to auburn, 1 to Alabama. Both big LSU fans, their daughters just got significant scholarships to those schools.

Is what it is

I don’t know about Manning specifically, but unless an athlete is an icon with universal recognition like Tom Brady or Michael Jordan, it’s probably a good idea financially (in general) to stay in the area where they are better known, even revered, after they are done playing.

Maybe he enjoys a good mugging or carjacking now and then.

Archie was born in Mississippi, went to a university in Mississippi and played for the Saints. Where was any LSU connection ever supposed to have been established?

Why does an Ole Miss player hate LSU?

Archie went to Ole Miss. two of his sons went to Ole Miss and the other decided Tennessee. Literally no connection to LSU.

All three of them entered college when LSU was terrible

Because he was the most beloved New Orleans Saint of all time when he retired, and that comes with perks. Why would he leave NOLA?

NOLA is full of LSU fans. There was even an LSU alum who was Rex recently and had LSU band lead the parade. There are many more LSU fans in New Orleans now than 25 yrs ago because of the winning. The rivalry between BR and NOLA has decreased. There are tons of Saints fans in BR and tons of LSU fans in New Orleans. New Orleans high school kids long to play for LSU now . Archie went to Ole Miss I wouldn’t expect him to be an LSU fan same as Deuce but both always say good things about LSU. It’s like if the Honey Badger moved to Misssippi would they expect him to cheer for Ole Miss ?

I live in Florida. By your logic i MUST root for UF and my kids HAVE TO go to UF (They didn't).

Ole Miss and LSU people (especially older ones) HATE EACH OTHER! Why is this so hard for you to understand?

People will scoff and say "a Manning would never attend LSU" but LSU would have had a really good shot at Eli had OM not hired David Cutcliffe (Peyton's OC/QB coach at Tennessee) and LSU was not coming off of a 2-9 season. He took an official visit to LSU, had a lot of friends here and visited often during the off season when he was at OM.

Well, LSU was terrible when Peyton and Eli were in their recruiting cycles. LSU peaked at 5 wins Peyton's entire time in college. They were also going through a coaching change.

They were 4-7 and 3-8, in the midst of another coaching change during Eli's recruiting cycle.

Both were elite recruits and to put it into today's perspective going to LSU in that era would be the equivalent of the the #1 QB in the recruiting class going to Kansas or Mississippi State.

Meaning they start day 1 possibly. Please tell us OM's records those same years.

They HATE Louisiana schools, period. But tonyour point, exactly. The family wont take on a challenge. Its all about ease of playing time for them.
And now little arch was hifted a position at TX for no reason. Hes proving again hes just average. TX qb pkay will go up, once he leaves. Book it
