He played for New Orleans and was established in the community. New Orleans is different than the rest of the state.

At the time Uptown New Orleans was a private school culture and Ole Miss and Tulane had more traction in Uptown New Orleans than LSU.

Since Saban, LSU has gotten more traction there.

And Arch just was not a good fit.

I remember we were mentioned early on in his recruitment, but we had a rotating door of OC/QB coaches after Slinger and Brady. We also took Max Johnson, Nuss, and Walker Howard in consecutive classes. By the time BK took the job it was pretty clear Arch was heading out of state.

Well considering the saints nearly killed him with the product the saints put on the field

I know the saints were bad but Archie was an incredibly overrated QB. He literally had more INTs than TDs in 11 of 13 seasons INCLUDING those with other teams.

He was a great college QB from the region. And he was ours so we loved him.

If this was provable we'd see the actual numbers on the NOs news all the time.

They worshipped him in Oxford too, but you can’t make big money there as easily.

Cooper married a New Orlrans girl as well. And as far as hating LSU, I would guess that Archie doesn't hate anybody or anything

Oh he hates Lane Kiffin.

And go where? Their three boys grew up and went to school in New Orleans. Roots were planted here. There are plenty of people living in Louisiana that don’t care much about LSU.

Yea and the family raised pure hell when Peyton had committed to Tennessee. The mom did anyway. Poor Eli really didn’t have a choice after that. He was going to Ole Miss whether he wanted to or not to make momma happy.

Cause hes a grifter. He takes and doesnt give. He farms out the familybelsewhere, but trues to maintain Louisiana fame.
It works. Look at arch. Was just a mediocre 2A qb in hs, and these stupid mofos had him as recruit #1 rank. He was barley all district

So why such disdain for LSU?

New Orleans and LSU have a complicated relationship. Some lovers many haters, many indifferent. Some goes back to the old Tulane rivalry. Some think they’re edge lords by hating the big state school, especially one with a sorta more conservative feel than others.

And selling siding. For a while I think more people knew Archie Manning as the Southern Siding guy than watched him play football.

After the 2002 game one of the LSU fans was yelling "Go to siding on your house" on a loop. Even I was getting annoyed.

New Orleans is not really connected with the rest of LA.

New Orleans is thick with LSU support.

shite on New Orleans for how poorly ran it is, but make no mistake about it, New Orleans is a huge contributor of LSU, on and off the field.
