As a Raider fan for a half-century, I am ready for it.

Just win, baby.

And as for the OP, none of us has a crystal ball but I like his odds to at least be solid with a ceiling higher than that.

Very true, he is in a great situation to develop. Loved pairing him with Linderbaum for years to come. Still need a #1 WR but Bowers really helps strengthen the WR/TE core.

JJ McCarthy is not really comparable to Fernando.

I think Mendoza has the intangibles to be a serviceable NFL QB. Time will tell, better QBs have not worked out, and much worse went on to be brilliant.

He will play for the Raiders so we will never know. This organization is terrible and Marc Davis is a joke.

I think he’ll be “pretty good”. Like top half of league barely.

But that’s hard to find these days.

He played in an offense that kept things crazy simple for him. Nothing about the offense he played in translate to the NFL. I think he will be a good NFL QB one day but the offense he played in didn't help him.

I don't know, man, leading a team like Indiana to two stellar seasons and a national championship speaks volumes about his skills, intelligence, and maturity. I think he's the best NFL qb prospect we've seen in some time. Comparing him to a known bum like JJ is kinda fricked up.

I think he'll have an Alex Smith type career. Solid starter for 10+ years. He's not a guy that is going to win you a championship by himself, but could with an elite defense and managing the game.

They built a playoff team that was a play from taking out the eventual AFC champs on the road under Gruden and the NFL sabotaged it to make Gruden the scape goat for all the dysfunction within Daniel Snyder’s organization.

would love to pull up the threads from two years ago on JJ. It was obvious he was going to be a failure in the NFL but Harbaugh went on a gas lighting spree and a lot of people fell for it. JJ was Daniel Jones lite.

They’re not even remotely comparable

Mendoza has all the tools he needs to be a top five QB in the NFL in 4-5 years.

Whether or not the Raiders organization allows that to happen is TBD.

Most likely scenario is he will be a solid QB for a long time but never elite.

I'm not sold on him, but as a Raiders fan, I'm obviously pulling for him. I never thought #1 pick while watching his college games

This is the correct question. They are the Jets just without the NYC media coverage

Not sure how far "in some time" is for you but definitely wouldn't have him above Caleb Williams,Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye. If you go back to 2021, Lawrence was the highest rated QB coming out of college since Andrew Luck. But definitely above anybody from last year and 2022.

He’s mobile enough , very smart and has a good arm/accuracy. Hes going to work hard and not get in trouble. Hes a proven winner and has been under a great college coach. There are no sure things but he’s got everything you could want in a prospect.

I’m not saying he’s a lock. But Mendoza is closer to Burrow out of college than McCarthy.

Literally everyone in the world except for the Vikings front office knew what was gonna happen with JJ. JJ might actually be retarded.

I think Mendoza has all the parts there to be a very good QB for many years.

So, he should be great in today's NFL?

I do think he’s below the median of a typical #1 overall QB prospect (well below Luck/Lawrence as prospects, probably below Burrow/Williams, but above Goff as a prospect. Maybe like a Bryce Young/Cam Ward level as a prospect?), but regardless he was way more impressive in college than McCarthy and is a much better prospect than him, come on man.
