Yes but we can't fire the ones signing off/really making the hire the BOT can we? That's why I said zero confidence if it's really all the same people that hired Jeff Long then HY.

The sad part is we apparently are 3rd in the SEC in football expenses so even .500 is a total waste of those resources. We are 1st in basketball and have a final four/elite 8 team every year with a legit natty shot, and baseball is also 3rd and an Omaha/title shot team typically every year too.

I just don't get excited about the likely hire of Jeff Long/Hunter Yurachek V3. Zero confidence in that revolving door and from what I understand the people making that hire are still the same ones?

Texas has crazy money we don't have, Tenn is more realistic. A&M has never been good in basketball, haven't made a sweet 16 since 2018 and fired their coach just over a year ago in Buzz. And even their baseball program has fallen since Texas poached their coach.

I think it is really hard nowadays to be good at football without sinking your other programs outside of just a few schools. Iowa State doesn't have a baseball program so doesn't seem fair to add them when some SEC schools pay close to basketball level budgets for baseball.

UF has sunk a ton into football and been terrible for awhile now, Tenn had a loooong run of being awful too and still haven't won anything. Maybe UF is on the right path in football now to say they are good in both, not sure too soon. Tenn is currently good in both + big budget in baseball behind only LSU in the SEC for baseball expenses. They do it really well Bama too. UGA is god awful in basketball, LSU is god awful in basketball.

We seem to allocate the money for football but don't get the results like we do in the other 2 sports.

Agree to disagree then, I don't see bailouts coming but when the PCSA passes this week it should be all but over anyways.

Where have I been defending Yurachek? Because I like Cal and what he said about the protect college sports act and not taking out university loans or using student fees to pay for football? I don't really care who the AD is tbh, because I am far more of a basketball and baseball guy anymore than football and those 2 programs are pretty much hands off from the AD for the foreseeable future when their coaches retire in 5ish years.

This also just reminds me of the Jeff Long ending followed by the HY hire repeating itself, so hard to have any confidence in anyone making correct moves. Fool me once or twice yada yada.

Nah it's really just common sense. They are losing a ton of money. Calipari is so smart about that stuff, is that what you meant? Definitely a big Cal guy for sure. For someone that throws around insults in every post these days you sure do get a lot wrong, talk about reality. :lol:

It just speaks to how accurate Calipari and others are when they've said how much debt these schools are taking on to try and win now and why it was never sustainable. People talk of a sports bubble and that is definitely one that will pop soon as the LSU's, Indiana's, Ohio State's keep taking out huge loans and accruing massive debt to field these overpriced teams they can't afford.

I don't think the average fan even knows these schools are taking out huge loans against the university itself including academics and student fees to pay for them. FSU athletics is over $500M in debt the most in the nation, with nothing to show for it. Indiana at least won a title but made no money for it and had to take out a $60M loan earlier this year.

Attendance increased this year so you're just flat out lying. Also one of the top young cores in the sport and a loaded farm.

Stein looks like the best hire of the group. Many in the UO program had said he was the brains of that operation not Lanning and they were really hoping to keep him for one more year with Moore coming back. That looks very accurate with how both Kentucky and Oregon look with and without him.

Would he have taken the Ark job over Kentucky? He's from Kentucky and mentioned many times coming back home was big for him so who knows. UK has the virtually the same NIL as us this year so what exactly would we sell to lure him? Less pressure, same money and his home state. Don't think he'd take our job unless we offered a good bit more which we wouldn't do anyways.

Me too, I had really convinced myself that was the year but no, same Petrino blown out and uncompetitive against the top teams. Met some awesome girls at a bachelorette party from Iceland after the game so it was okay. Csb
