I don't understand what the Big 10 has to gain by being "first" here. First to go to conference only, first to "postpone". Why? To gain what?

Sounds like a way of cancelling the season without cancelling the season officially.

Uh, no they weren't. The vote was 12-2 and Nebraska/Iowa were the no votes.

That was reportedly the vote from the weekend. Then all hell broke loose, and cleveland.com reported yesterday afternoon tOSU president would vote no.

There isn't going to be SEC football in the fall. The testing restrictions are gonna be too insurmountable to overcome with the added pressure of liability.

individually, they are the most powerful conference

also, they are the most arrogant conference

they think that with the Pac12 on board, they will force everyone else to cancel

The positivity all day was bizarre. Big 10 and Pac 12 were clearly going to cancel today or tomorrow. Big 12 will fold next and the SEC/ACC by the weekend.

why do you think this?

they won't be voting to end CFB in 2020, this vote may end CFB for the majority of their conferences for years

seriously the ACC has so many schools on thin financial ice, how can they afford to miss out on the payday that funds their whole athletic department (CFB TV money)?

I think it will happen unfortunately. The dominos have been falling slowly, and I think the lower NCAA level conferences made it more likely that non-P5 conferences would cancel, and P5 conferences canceling makes it more likely that the other conferences cancel too.

This phenomenon has played out many times throughout the pandemic.

Big 12 has to be frothing at the mouth at the chance of getting Nebraska and Iowa even just for a year

Sounds sinister, but these presidents have to be hoping for an early outbreak of covid among those conferences that play in the fall.

He's already signaled that the SEC won't go it alone.
