I just think they believe, and unfortunately probably rightly so, that the SEC/Big 12/and ACC won’t have the fortitude to stick it out and go it alone. In the face of constant SJW blue check mark pressure to cancel.

That’s what they thought they had. But they didn’t have as much support as they thought

an SEC/ACC/Big 12 block would absolutely be enough to go ahead. plus, it would stabilize things for the minor conferences as well. if one of those three back out, then ill start to worry

There won’t be spring football.

XFL should come back as a Saturday fall football league and completely demolish the NCAA.

curious if someone can scrap together an "independent league" this year and get NBC on board or something

i just want chaos from all the conferences who voted no football

Same. I haven’t really followed the G5 conferences but BYU needs games too

Can someone just remind me what changed over the past couple of weeks?

I'm just trying to understand what has caused this sudden change. The medical experts didn't provide any new, unknown information.

FSUs president didnt waver or talk in circles today

He straight up said the myocarditis news is "old news", and them and the SEC have approval from their medical teams to go forward

Logistics are an issue, but I could see schools like BYU, Army, and maybe several MWC schools being open to forming a scheduling coalition with any B1G/PAC-12 schools that are in favor of playing.

No it isn’t
I know. It’s not even the same type of canceling. I was being facetious and doing a poor job of it apparently.

The only change is that the numbers across the nation are improving quickly

nothing

the Pac12 was never going to happen

the Big10 was likely never going to happen, either, but they manufactured a talking point (myocarditis) to give cover

the Big10 thinks they are so powerful, if they cancel, everyone else would follow suit, ESP if the Pac12 was with them

The only way they could postpone to the spring is if they played the 2021 season as a Winter Sport and started it in November or something, which they aren't going to do.

Do the blue check mark brigade write checks to the university every year?

There was some sort of weird heart condition thing that Northern Illinois cited bc of COVID.

Other than that, nothing really. Leads you to believe they were misleading and kicking the can down the road for weeks, for the same outcome. If I was an athlete (any sport) at a Big 10 school, I would be furious that they didn't just shut it down earlier.

I don't understand what the Big 10 has to gain by being "first" here. First to go to conference only, first to "postpone". Why? To gain what?

They had to try to save face from a position they actually put themselves unnecessarily in by letting their vote leak yesterday. They hoped—and falsely assumed—that everybody would follow suit (like they did with the conference only announcement) and they would be looked at as the CFB heroes. They pushed all their chips in, but weren’t expecting anybody to call their bluff. Now, they realize it’s too late to reverse course and just have to wear it.

I thought they would pull back.

I'm not sure if I should praise them for their tenacity or mock them for their stupidity.
