If there is no football in the fall, there is no college sports period for 2020-21.

2021-2022 will be dicey for most athletic departments.

Of all the changes in conference affiliation over the last 15 years or so, Nebraska in the Big 10 was the one that made the least sense

Disagree. The Big 10 adding Rutgers and Maryland leaving the ACC for the Big 10 both made far less sense. It’s arguable that Mizzou going to the SEC also made no sense. West Virginia in the Big 12 is insane.

The only move that really made sense at the time was Colorado to the PAC 12. Syracuse and Pitt in the ACC isn’t completely moronic, but still kinda weird.

How do they justify this when NFL teams will be playing football in these same states on Sundays? It's good enough to play football on Sunday but not on Saturday?

TV Markets. Rutgers brings in NY, Maryland brings in DC.

Brings in St. Louis / Kansas City Markers.

WTF market is there for Nebraska?

I would say this is a close second behind Nebraska to Big 12.

The Big 10 should go ahead and cancel everything up until Fall 2021 because I would assume that football is what balances the budgets for all of the athletic departments.

Maybe you can have basketball, but no other men's or women's sports.

Myocarditis isn’t permanent. But dying because of it kinda is. Lawyers are advising against the liability of it.

Except no one in New Jersey gives a f$&k about Rutgers and they’re garbage competitively in nearly all sports, especially football.

I understand why the Big 10 wanted them, but not why Maryland wanted out of the ACC.

Why can't athletes just sign a waiver relieving the university of this?

A waiver would help but doesn't provide 100% protection

They were accepted into the Big Ten one year after Schiano left, at that point they were playing decent football. They also came in at same time as Maryland.

I don't know enough about how New York / New Jersey people care about Rutgers sports, but I specifically remember a lot of articles about tv markets, especially relative to the Big Ten Network.

Agreed. I don't understand that either, other than maybe they felt the love?

What's the deal with this Spring bullshite? Did they not just live through spring 2020?

To me this screams out: The virus will be over with after the November elections.

plus the universities have said they will honor the scholarships of those who choose not to play. So that also kills another argument a lawyer might try to make.

Now the other conferences still standing are evaluating the worst case scenario without factoring the odds of that scenario actually happening.

Have any of the woke media members even slightly hinted at how this decision closes a tiny window that is best(or only) chance for a handful of black young men to acquire generational wealth and leave the bondage of systemic racism behind? Anyone?

As I stated in the other thread:

Lefties will cut off their nose to spite their face if it means "owning the cons".

The left doesn't care about the consequences for those they claim they champion. They NEVER do. It is ALWAYS about getting at the Americans they HATE. Always.
