Greg Olsen was spot on in his color commentary but was also as dry and boring as stale bread. The Fox booth is far behind the other booths right now and it's not because of technical proficiency, it's because it's drone and not entertaining.

Exactly this. Brady is set to take Olsen's spot anyways...

It wasn’t that long ago that Tony Romo was considered the next great NFL color commentator

Romo’s thoughtful analysis has been replaced by a lot of platitudes and very obvious statements that don’t add much to what we’re all watching.

That’s Jim Nantz and CBS bringing the product down, not the other way around. He sounds bored and disinterested.

It was funny when he referred to the play clock as the shot clock

On the other side of the spectrum, Greg Olsen was excellent yesterday and has been excellent.

No he wasn't, Greg is always horrible and yesterday's game was no different. He constantly gets the players names wrong and typically does not have anything of real value to say, just typical regurgitated hyperbole and adjectives

"I don't like tony romo anymore so now I'll write an article as if its fact that he sucks now. In order to support this I'll do a twitter search of people that agree with me, put the screen shots in the article and declare it unanimous that viewers across the board also don't like him."

This is very well done. Excellent post. A perfect description of what journalism has become. When did tweets become a basis for reporting?

When media outlets realized the name of the game is in constantly pumping out articles that generate new clicks. Content aggregation killed sports media

I like Tony, but I do think he's gotten away from more detailed analysis. Same thing happened to Collinsworth after a year or two of being in prime time. It's almost like these companies coach their talent to dumb it down.

I think articles like this are idiotic though. People love you until you get too big, and then want to cut you off at the knees.

Romo's worst(untimely) platitude was talking up Leslie Frazier as a coach defensively in which Buffalo proceeds to shite the bed.

Romo has sucked since day 1 and I stand by that I remember when he first started it was all “Wowza he predicted the play” Yea he finally got it right after 25 attempts so cool

I’m with you on that. Who gives a shite if some guy who watched film for 20+ years can predict an upcoming play. I’m not watching to hear you guess which play is next. Was never a fan of his. Luckily I tend to block out most announcers anyway and just watch.

That's complete bullshite. Romo is one of the best in the business and hasn't changed from day 1.
This thread is just full of Cowboy haters taking their ire out on the QB that took dem boys to their greatest heights over the last 1/4 century!!

This.

If it’s not a Saints game, if the announcer sounds like he cares, I’m more likely to care

Madden near the end just became "boom, bam, look at his butt".

It takes a lot of work to make decent insightful analysis. I think Collingsworth and Romo are still doing an okay job. I really don't have high expectations for announcers anyways. I'm more focussed on the play by play than analysis.

I think he'd be fine if he said what he really meant. I mean if he doesn't agree with a call or the way a route was run or just any critique, just say it.

But I can only imagine he might be pressured by his bosses or social influence.

God forbid someone speak their mind and people just interpret it as constructive criticism. No, they need to go and tweet about what someone else says and to make themselves feel more important.

He’s too monotone.
Analysis is good, he’s just too quiet.
