It’s hard to judge a young QB getting backup reps and garbage time PT.
Nuss may not develop, but we don’t know where he may be a year or two from now.
I don’t have anything against bringing in competition, though.

Not what level headed fans and beat writers are saying. They are saying the people hoping for this are delusional. Howard is leaving to play on a bigger stage. End of story

Mixed feelings about a portal qb.
Nuss waited his turn and I feel like taking a portal guy all the time will eventually hurt high school recruiting.
With that said it ain’t show friends it’s show business, gotta trust Kelly’s judgment on qbs at this point and if they feel after watching him every day for two years that they should bring in a high profile guy then it is what it is.
If nothing else we need some depth. One nuss injury and it’s Rickie collins and a true freshman left.

This is a great point, and I’m not saying Nuss can’t get better, not after I made so much fun of those who said Daniels couldn’t. I’m just pointing out that we don’t have a sure thing in Nuss. The coaches have seen a lot more than we have, so they’ll make an informed decision on whether to go after a QB in the portal and whether to promise a good one the starting job.

Watched him play Saturday against Iowa State. He isn’t an accurate passer but does run decent. Nuss is a better passer.
