I think Albert Bell by for has had the better career of any other Tiger in Major League Baseball

DJ is a very good hitter and fielder, but he does not have the devastation the Albert Joey Belle had. There was just something about an Albert Belle homerun.....even in college....it had a violence to it.

Corked bat
Well, every other power hitter except Griffey Jr. was on juice. Corked bat didn’t do nearly as much for him as the juice did for others.

I don’t get into all the baseball stats and analytics, but my buddy who does says it’s Nola based on WAR. Apparently Nola’s WAR is right behind DJ but he’s much younger and might have an all time WAR. Supposedly that’s the stat that is most relevant in determining who has more of an impact.

i don’t do analytics. but i played ball in some form or fashion until my body broke down in late 30s.
i will stand in the box (and likely strike out) against Nola. Or Big Ben. Or Ogea, etc.
I’ll pitch to any other former Tiger you can name.
I want no part of pitching to Belle.
you can’t pay me enough to try it.

If DJ plays 4 more years he will have over 2,000 career hits…possibly the most ever by a Tiger surpassing Dark.

Of course, you'd be hard to find 2 guys with more polar-opposite demeanors. Griffey had a smile like a big happy Golden Retriever. Belle made Barry Bonds seem friendly.

And Brian Wilson did some amazing things w/ The Beach Boys.

Yep, agreed. It’s Joey B and it’s not close. Had he not gotten hurt as well, coupled with the “issues” he had with bats lol, this is a dumb argument.
I had the opportunity to live in Cleveland during those 90’s teams. Lived next door to Chad O when he first got called up. Met all those great Indians players, but Joey was the man. There might not be a better lineup in the history of baseball for a while there in the mid to late 90’s than those Indians teams.
The opposing teams respected all the hitters, but Joey was feared. He could hit anything.
Maybe a 100 mph above shoulder high fastball from Benitez? Go check that out! Nuts.
I got to meet him a couple times off the field. He’s very quiet. He has that fear factor even walking around in a grocery store in Westlake, OH.
Joey was a God during that era in Cleveland.

I guess with this thought process the better question would be what would happen when Nola is on the bump against Belle. I would dare say he wins that battle and moreover I doubt Belle find a great deal more success than DJ Bregs or anyone else. I think Nola does a better job of neutralizing the threat of a good hitter better than any of these players do a good job of overcoming what a great pitcher does to neutralize their hitting.

WAR is a pseudo stat made up by ESPN who refused to release the formula they used to get it for 4-5 years it was so faulty. It‘s based on changing and unknown variables that differ not only for position but for almost every single player. It cannot be applied evenly to any two players and doesn’t project in actuality to the field of play. The stat has been debunked and shredded, articles proving this are very easy to find.

He has 2.
1 in the AL, 1 in the NL. Only player to ever do that, I believe.

It wasn’t medication. His problem was he was an alcoholic at 12 years old. My camp, emends to the fight he put up against that all his life after that.

I know you don’t understand what it means. You understand very little when it comes to sports.
