I think with the total freedom and latitude that the conference has in distributing punishments without having to prove any wrong doing, I think it is very likely that there is a punishment coming.
The other schools will likely be fine with it and vote for a LK punishment if it means they might be able to win.
But that would also be a big motivator for the LSU team to beat the crap out of them.
I have to wonder if LK is punished if a lawsuit would be filed against the SEC for lack of evidence and reason for wrongful punishments.

So, Person A encouraging Person B to exercise a constitutional right is a suspensible offense?
Therefore, if Lane hires a lawyer for himself to fight his suspension, they can suspend him for that?
I hope they have deep pockets for lawyers and settlement money if they decide to go down that road.

What LSU fans need to understand is the longer this goes on, the chances of finding that evidence increase dramatically. We don't want that to happen.

"Some CBS article"....and that was the only / single news commentary about it. No way it dies on the vine, with no follow up, if there was anything to this allegation. CLK denied it in one brief statement & that was it.

A rule needs to be violated for penalties to be enacted. Unless sec knows something they haven’t said, I can’t see any penalties applied.
They can cite a broad “lack of institutional control” but that is extremely difficult to argue here.

If the kids filed a frivolous lawsuit and lost, The Plaintiffs could be subject to a suit by the SEC for malicious prosecution. They didn't lose their case, however. They won.
What is being suggested is the "tort" of Conspiracy to Encourage Malicious Prosecution. If Kiffin was a Fiduciary to the kids, the only parties who could attempt to make an allegation are the kids / Plaintiffs. A former football coach is certainly not a Fiduciary and (again) the kids won their lawsuit.
Now we could most certainly raise the validity of claims of Malicious Prosecution against the SEC for the Northern Alabama Federal matter. The SEC may even have coverage under their General Liability insurance policy that would pay damages to those who can prove they were harmed by the Federal matter.
