Joe has let his ego get in the way. Instead of letting others that are more qualified make decisions, he made them- specifically Higgins. He thought his talent and buddies was enough to just outgain everyone else. Well there’s a bunch of other pros in the league that take their job serious too. He’s damn good, but not that good. I’ve taken up for him many times but it’s gotten old at this point
When healthy Joe has been to 2 AFC championships and a Super Bowl
Cincy paying Higgins has nothing to do with it. They have also traded for and drafted several players for the OL that have simply not panned out
The issue is scouting and/or development of the OL, not deciding to pay star players

Not really. He and his long time gf broke up last year after it was speculated they were engaged. After that he was linked to 1 social media influencer but that’s it. Wonder if he is missing that stable relationship tho.
its Olivia Ponton, but they are still together and keeping it under the radar.

I’m guess it’s time to come back to Louisiana for another fresh start. It worked when he came to LSU, so he might as well jump to the Saints.

Bert Jones all over again.
Jones's career was cut short by a cervical injury. This seems mor like another former Colt QB Andrew Luck.

because his offensive line sucks arse, which is always why he is hurt and his defense blows nuts
How much of that is due to salary cap and Joe/ Chase's salaries?

I mean the amount of injuries hes had since being drafted by the Bengals has been ridiculous.
- ACL
- Appendectomy
- Calf
- Wrist
- Severe Turf Toe
The amount of rehab he has had to do will take a mental toll. The team hasn't been very good since his third year in the league and missed the shot at the Superbowl after two straight AFC Championship appearances so I can understand him starting to get burnt out. The dude lives and breathes football at some point when there is no payoff there is going to be a burn out.

Saw this coming when the Bengals drafted him. But it took longer than I expected because there were some glimmers of hope early on, but that diabolically bad OL dashed them.
He needs to GTFO.
He needs to GTFO.

Geez
If you wanna win
You got to give up some of your money so I can go to other players???
Bengals have always been known for being cheap. Happened LONG before Burrow showed up. And even if he wanted certain players to get extensions, he's not the GM or the owner. They have to do whats in the best interest of the team. That OL has been garbage even when he first got there. The defense was initially ok but has definitely regressed. They've tried signing guys that never worked out and the ones that do get traded because it costs too much to keep them. It can start to weigh on a person especially someone as competitive as Burrow. It's frustrating trying to anchor a boat full of holes.

to live with the Bengals defense are known causes of seasonal depression
Dan Marino and Dan Fouts know the feeling. Both their teams averaged 40 points a game and they didn't win shite because of their defense

They never should have resigned Tee Higgins. He is good but they needed that money on defense.

Damn. Sounds like he shouldn’t have willingly signed that massive contract extension with them then demand that they overpay a bunch of other offensive guys.

When you have a great offense and the defense can't stop any team and you lose close games over and over..it can wear on a qb. He is probably in the realization that his legacy is not going to be championship related. Just another great qb that had no team to win with. there are many others....

quote:I don't think any of it is. As another poster said, the Bengals have $30 million in cap room this year, will have $90 million next season. The cap is not an issue for them. That's not to say that money isn't an issue for them. The Brown family doesn't have another business that subsidizes their football team. The Bengals franchise is their business.

Finally realized that the league is rigged. Sorry, Joe. It is what it is.

Thats what losing does to winners. Look at Barry Sanders. Ran for almost 1500 yards and decided to retire. Same thing happened with Megatron, he had about 1200 yards.

You right. That's the GM's fault. He could've had a discussion with Burrow about it, and offered to restructure his deal like Mahomes did with the Chiefs to make it work if he was willing, or could've simply told him it wasn't financially feasible considering they needed capital to fix the holes on defense and the OL. I get they were trying to appease Burrow, but what good does it do if you're in the same situation you've been in for the last 3+ seasons.

Andrew Luck 2.0
Great talent playing behind crappy O-lines. Once you have a certain amount of money and your team is not committed to your well-being and success you have to question what shape do you want your body to be in 5, 10, 20 years.

Didn't watch but when you are greedy and take 20% of your team's salary cap for 1 player, you get what you deserve.
You have jimmys and joes at many other positions and your team sucks.
He needs to quit bitching.

Who literally didn't see this coming? I feel like I remember reading a story about how Carson Palmer called Joe not long after the draft and told him to figure out a way out of Cincy because they're complete, long term, dogshit and they'll make him want to quit football.
Mike Brown is a terrible, micromanaging owner who is interested in putting together a team that can sell tickets and make money, but essentially be a perennial .500, cheap football team.
The physical and psychological damage they're doing to our boy is very real.
