Meh

I’m all for more fat and protein

But the anti carb cult is getting as bad as the vegans

You can still keep your carbs around 80g-100g a day and just up your fats and be just fine.

I highly respect the pro low carb posters on this board. I acknowledge the benefits of a ketogenic diet, and there are many, but I have lost 20 lbs and four inches off of my waist by going Paleo. I eat anywhere from 100-200 carbs a day from fruits and tubers. You can be healthy and eat carbs.

I guess I should add that I’m 5’11, 175 and have a 32-33 inch waist. I highly suspect that my weight loss would have been more extreme if I had more to lose.

Losing weight does not necessarily = "healthy".

I dropped my body fat from 24% - 17% over the last 4 months by doing IF and eating a flexible diet. My diet is high carbs and only meat for supper

That's great. It's almost literally beside the point of health.

It’s like they don’t recognize any other healthy form of diet and wellness

How are you measuring BF%?

I went for a DEXA scan yesterday and never realized how inaccurate all the other forms of measuring bf% were. DEXA is apparently the most accurate and all of the other ways actually underestimate according to what I have read.

Fair enough, but this is the first time I have had abs in my life and this type of diet has been shown to help with autoimmune issues. I started this diet for health, not to lose weight, but it was a side effect.

do you measure a 32-33" waist or do you wear a 32-33 inch pants?

I can wear 33's right now pretty easily, but I bet my waist is probably 35-36 if properly measured.

I should do a DEXA

I did the bodpod about five years ago and it said I was 21% body fat. All I could do was laugh esp when the guy giving me the test said I need to loose weight to see that go down.

I’m 5’11/6 footish and at the gym 6 times a week and I weighed 165lbs

I already had a six pack and had no more weight to loose

Depends. Obesity has serious health consequences on its own.

I agree it is not an automatic indicator, but if you're heavy, it is good.

I was going by pant size, but down from 37 inch pants while maintaining strength is a plus in my book. Good point though.

For most body fat loss has the most impact on health markers.... So it kind of his the point. It's not always true but many cases it is.
