Well done. I'm on board with him. I was underwhelmed initially, but the more I thought about it the more I like the hire.

We just hired ND's coach. Florida hired a sun belt coach. Oklahoma is going to hire a coordinator who has never even been a head coach. Georgia hired a coordinator as well, although it worked out amazingly for them. Texas hired a coordinator, same for Ohio state. Oregon promoted from within. No one is hiring a coach with Kelly's pedigree

This is the reality of hiring coaches. It's almost always a case of moving a guy up. From the start eantards we're screaming that a school of LSU's stature shouldn't settle for a coordinator but should get a championship level, established and proven P5 head coach even though that's almost never done. Yet that's exactly what Woodward did and still the catastrophe syndrome victims are like Chicken Little.

He’s going to rebuild our foundations.

I think everyone should give him at least 3 seasons.

But knowing the negatigers, if he doesn’t win the NC in year 2/3, they’ll call for his head

True. And it can be argued that on average the talent he was coaching was on average about as good as Miss St. And that ain't bad, but obviously they will be overmatched by a team like Bama, OSU, or even LSU.

In my opinion, that record is more about being overmatched rather than not being well coached. It's one reason everyone hates ND. They're constantly overrated and most of us recognize that in any given season over the last 30 yrs or so, they'd be average to slightly above average if they played an SEC schedule.

I agree with all of these points and was anti BK when the rumors began.

I have since convinced myself because sinply put, it’s hard to do better than stealing ND’s all time winningest coach.

To put in in perspective. Notre Dame's all time winningest coach who is currently 11-1 with an outside shot to make the CFP decided to leave to come coach the program that just finished last in the most competitive division, let along conference, in the country. Yes, the money is huge. Buy ND has no shortage of wealthy alumni in their own right.

The bottom line is he left because LSU offers him something ND doesn't in the current landscape of college football. The chance to be a national champion. THAT is how powerful the LSU job is considered.

1- watched for years as lsu fans talked shite and clowned nd and kelly for having a cakewalk, gifted playoffs, and choking once there. They are now celebrating the same man as their savior

I seriously doubt anyone who joked about Kelly personally, seriously felt he was not a good coach. The jokes were made in the same light that we'd joke about Swinney or Saban, or any other coach. It's simple, you're not our coach, therefore you shall be made fun of.

The other part of the hatred is the fact that it's ND. Tons of people hate ND for various reasons. For me, it's because they're constantly overrated. They're overrated because they're overmatched vs the true top teams in the country. Not because they're not well coached.

I would think that an LSU fan would be the first person to understand what a difference 2 years makes.

His success will hinge on whether or not he can do what LSU has done since 2000, and that’s continue to land top-5/10 classes consistently. He’s going to have to do this to compete with the bama’s and Georgia’s of the world.

It’s my only concern with him. He’s already proven that he’s a good coach and a winner by taking Notre Dame out of the scrap heap, and making them relevant again. If he can do recruit up to LSU standards, he will win a natty here.

When I was promoted to plant manager some years ago, an employee that I was inheriting cleaned out his personal things, was packed and ready to leave. We had differences in prior years.

He thought my first decision as the new manager was going to be his firing. I called him into my office and I laid everything out that happened between us prior to my promotion and I ask if he would judge me from this day forward and I will do the same we will forget anything prior to today.

We evaluate Brian based on his performance at LSU going forward.
