Who has a better record than that as a HC?

Neither is Saban. He’s a notorious a-hole, surly with the media, freaks out on refs, and regularly throws his players under the bus.

Sometimes it takes a personality like that to win at this level.

The bottom line is he left because LSU offers him something ND doesn't in the current landscape of college football. The chance to be a national champion. THAT is how powerful the LSU job is considered.

You’re not wrong, OP. Its just bewildering that a post like this would even be needed.

LSU fans can be so goddamn stupid sometimes. This is a fantastic hire.

I actually think the age works out well long term. He’ll be good for 5-10 years, and LSU can have confidence he won’t leave for another program or the NFL. It also helps with coordinators - he can credibly bring in and keep coordinators who have aspirations of being the head coach because they know he’ll retire at some point. Having a coach retire and promoting from within has helped programs stay on top through transitions (OSU and Oklahoma great examples)

How many coaches you know that could do as WELL as Kelly with these admission requirements?

Admissions Overview
Notre Dame admissions is very selective with an acceptance rate of 16%. Students that get into Notre Dame have an average SAT score between 1400-1550 or an average ACT score of 32-35. - source niche.com

Here is the real truth, many LSU fans are entitled bipolar, catastrophe syndrome suffering manic depressive jackasses, and aren’t happy unless they are miserable and complaining. i heard all the same shite about Saban.

Woody is like the honey badger he “don’t give a frick what you think”, he didn’t get the coach you wanted (since he doesn’t exist) but he got the coach LSU needed.

CBK is the coach we need right now if you can’t see that you simply don’t know or understand football. All you need to know if that Bama fans are concerned now for the first time in many years.

Football players aren't required to be that high, but they certainly don't let just anyone in either. I've seen an average around 1100 claimed.

They also don't have reduced course loads in the fall during football season I've been told. Some players that do pass admissions don't want to bust their arse with the required academics.

Interesting fact-The last time ND won a NC they allowed Prop48 players. They have boosted admissions consistently ever since the early 90's.

Other schools also require above the NCAA minimum for admission. When is the last time you heard hoodspeak from a player at ND, Stanford, NW, WI, etc? They, and some others, require above the min.

Great points. His age is a huge plus, we haven't had stability for a long time. The AD at ND said Kelly left that program in such good shape when he left that he may not even name an interim HC, everyone knows their jobs so well.

Ill admit at first i was not on the BK train when everything was first announced. The more and more i think about the hire the more i like what he will bring to LSU. ND these days is a very hard place to win at with academic requirements and everyone playing on TV now and he did everything he could possibly do there.

Plain and simple he is a winner at every place he has been and with the talent in LA alone im excited to see what he can do with this program. I can assure that the players will be well coached and he will bring a certain type of pride to the players that we dont have now. It wasnt the splash hire everyone was hoping for but i truly think we hired the right guy for the job! Welcome to LSU BK
