This year, this year, an unranked LSU team that ended up 6-6 with a lame duck coach went into Bama and gave Bama all they could handle.They ended up 11-1. I know statistics are great and all, but sometimes they don't tell the whole story. 3-8 against top 10 teams is actually not that bad. You have to look at where his team was also. How many of those were in the 4-8 season? How were they against top 25? No playoff wins, well, at least he can make the playoffs.
Everything can be spun one way or the other. The one thing I know is that LSU is better off today than it was yesterday.

Brett Bielema had more wins against top 10 teams as a below .500 coach in 5 seasons at Arkansas than Brian Kelly has at Notre Dame since Bert took the Arkansas gig 9 years ago.

You'll be hard pressed to convince me that we are better off now than we were in Dec 2019. Ed flamed out big but LSU had reached the highest peak of college football and looked untouchable then.

Bottom line is the dude came here to win a championship. He didn’t need the money. He didn’t need his “big chance” to prove himself. He didn’t need to escape a wreck of his own making (see Fisher @ FSU). He wants to win a championship and thinks that LSU gives him the best chance, period. Our interests are perfectly aligned.
