If so, any idea when this starts? 2 years ?

Their current tv contract (with the Longhorn network) doesn't expire until 2025. If these two teams bolt, for whatever conference, them being accepted is a different issue.

I will say that would be really bad for the Big 12 though. If both of those teams leave.

LHN is costing ESPN around 48mill..... Look for ESPN to not blink an eye if TU just says end it

I don't think that'll be the case. We'll see.

Texas has been so used to running everything in the Big 12, I can't see them agreeing to just dropping that power and coming to the SEC, if they get voted in. There are two things against them.

Their track record going from one conference to another doesn't serve them well either. OU, I could see, Texas, I don't see it happening.

But anything is possible but the way it was explained to me, face to face today, it sounds like it's slim to none.

I'll trust who I spoke with rather than what some guy on Twitter said.

But again, it certainly isn't impossible.

If you are going to make a super conference, I say you jump to 20 teams and break it into 4 divisions of 5, reconstituting the old SEC in the process.

SEC West: LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss. St.
SEC East: UGA, Florida, Tennessee, UK, Vanderbilt
SEC Southwest: OU, UT, A&M, Arkansas, Missouri
SEC Atlantic: Clemson, S. Caro, N. Caro, Fla St., V Tech

Then you have a four team playoff.

so, this was kind of expected back when the realignments were going on a decade ago but it died down. But it looks like we are going to make 4 16 team super conferences but ofc the SEC is absolutely going to be loaded compared to the others.

SEC West
Arkansas
LSU
Mississippi
Mississippi State
Missouri
Oklahoma
Texas
Texas A&M

SEC East
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

B16 West
Iowa
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Minnesota
Nebraska
Oklahoma State
Wisconsin

B16 East
Illinois
Indiana
Michigan
Michigan State
Northwestern
Ohio State
Penn State
Purdue

Pac 16 North
Boise State
BYU
Colorado
Oregon
Oregon State
Utah
Washington
Washington State

Pac 16 South
Arizona
Arizona State
California
Southern Cal
Stanford
TCU
Texas Tech
UCLA

ACC North
Duke
Maryland
Notre Dame
Pittsburgh
Syracuse
Virginia
Virginia Tech
West Virginia

ACC South
Central Florida
Clemson
Florida State
Georgia Tech
Louisville
Miami
North Carolina
North Carolina State

Tried to keep the divisions in tact as much as possible... hmm...Rutgers, Baylor, and Boston College didn't quite make the cut. Maybe swap Kansas and Baylor; Syracuse with Boston College...I don't know but some teams are going to get cut that are currently in the power 5. Maybe we could do some form of relegation round...Ofc I am putting way more thought than most of these guys would as money is what matters

It's the only way I see it happening. Not saying I know everything but that's the only way I see it happening.

Guess we'll see but I don't see it happening soon.

Oklahoma sure. Texas can frick right off. They'd immediately think they can buy their way to the top and tell everyone else to lick their boots. That combined with the SEC money and their already rich arse boosters frick them.

The Big 12 owns TV rights to OU and UT through the 2025 season, right? Would their addition to the SEC be AFTER the 2025 season?

Could they be split up? I'd be okay with OU and maybe Va. Tech. Don't really want UT

Texas is bad news. They have a hyperinflated self opinion just like professor Matthew McConnaughy or however he spells it.

If you really enjoy chaos let the SEC skip over Texas and OU and go with teams like Oklahoma State and Central Florida (or Baylor).

Somebody on the SEC board suggested a 4 division seperation.

Div 1
Texas
A&M
Missouri
OU

Div 2
LSU
Ark
OM
Miss ST

Div 3
Ala
Aub
Tenn
Kent

Div 4
Fla
Ga
Vand
SC

Yearly
Div 1 vs Div 2
Div 3 vs Div 4

Yearly Rotation
Div 1 vs Div 3
Div 2 vs Div 4
then
Div 1 vs Div 4
Div 2 vs Div 3

Do you think the SEC would allow super conferences to start forming before them? Have they ever not been the pioneers? At anything? The SEC doesn't react to anything, they lead the way.

Fwiw the LHN $$$ is guaranteed for us. ESPN has the incentive to get rid of it. We wont blink at getting rid of it if the $$$ makes sense which it undoubtedly would. Would be a non factor.

Texas is a cancer to whatever conference they are in. Don't want them killing off the SEC.
