re: Will Shadeur make the Browns roster out of training camp?
Posted by Reeaholic on 4/28/25 at 8:19 am
Wow, this thread delivers. We got posters going from him being cut to posters saying he’ll be the starter.
I think he’s better than Gabriel but has baggage. I think Picket, Flacco and Watson are all better than him right now also, but Flacco isn’t there to start and Watson is hurt so we’ll see how pre season goes. If Sanders struggles and Gabriel doesn’t it will become interesting to see who gets cut. They can’t cut Watson but could cut Pickett. Flacco is backup insurance.
Tanking for Arch is asinine. 1 He might not be great - less than 100 passes thrown in college and no real competition when he played (Miss St was worse than bad last year). 2 If Arch is second coming like some people think, what’s to say he does come out knowing the Browns have the no 1 pick, his Uncle forced San Diego to not draft him so family has picked their team before. Point is, tanking for Arch is not a smart strategy and likely only fan theory (although Browns are dumb so who knows).

re: Stfu Mel Kiper

Reminder that Kiper is a liar. He promised to retire if Jimmy Clausen wasn’t successful in NFL. He also was big believers in Jamarcus Russel and David Carr, who he compared to Troy Aikman.
Needless to say all these draft experts are frauds and if they were any good nfl GM’s would hire them. They have to act outraged during the draft because they were so wrong on so many players so they say it’s the teams that are wrong so the don’t lose their grift. Every year it’s the same thing.

A big rhetorical misstep with the Israel-Palestine thing is found in the tribalistic notion that you have to take a side for one or the other
Not discounting the shite Israel has done in the past but to me I will not give them shite for this Hamas war. We’ve seen historically if Israel doesn’t retaliate or if they agree to ceasefire, Hamas will inevitably strike again after regaining numbers and arms. The only way to stop Hamas is to eradicate them. That’s the problem tho, as Hamas, much like most terrorist organizations, hide behind their own innocent people hoping that collateral damage will be enough to have the world condemn their attacker so they’ll stop. It’s their playbook. How do you propose they fight that?
re: How do players establish their NIL or profit sharing value?
Posted by Reeaholic on 4/15/25 at 1:47 pm
Are we supposed to feel bad for the LSU athlete that gets top notch training facilities, custom meal plans, room and board, free tuition and tutoring all while getting a nice stipend now with the tv revenue sharing? At LSU, that in itself is a high dollar value likely around 30k to 50k without the revenue sharing. It’s an LSU board so I’m assuming LSU themed question.
The market dictates their value and if they wanna test the market they are free to do so just as you and me at any job. Higher earners get higher pay, same as normal workforce. Of said athlete out performs his pay, he’ll either get a raise (which likely happens) or he’ll enter portal and get more pay. A negotiation will likely also happen with staff before hitting the portal. If staff doesn’t think he’s worth it, they will let him walk and market, again, will dictate his worth, not the player.

Did Khalil participate in Oct 7?
The group he is a leader/part of at Columbia celebrated Oct 7th. They also had a mission to “eradicate western culture”. Those aren’t ideas we should fight for to stay in our country.
Screw that dude, trade him to Hamas for Edan Alexander, the American hostage Hamas still has. Khalil can go fight in person since he’s so passionate about it.

can only go by what Marco Rubio said
You can do more than that instead of insisting the government has provided no evidence. Khalil led protests that had some violent rhetoric. Jewish students were in fear for their life and told by professor it wasn’t safe. Protestors also block classrooms. Khalil is the negotiator/spokesperson for this group on campus. You think that is ideal behavior for a non citizen? Shouldn’t green card and visa holders not be on their best behavior? I think he’s a trouble maker waiting in the wings.
To me that’s the argument. There is a very thin line between support for Palestine only and not support for hamas. Leading a protest with violent undertones against Israel is leaning towards support for Hamas. A green card holder should absolutely be kicked out for supporting a terrorist organization. That is just my take on this particular case.

Because it’s the second largest economy in the world. If they were, say 100th, they might not but they can’t miss out on that market. Plus China is into everything, everywhere; you’re going to have to deal with them.

Info was partially correct. 15-20% parts from China was correct. The 65-70% from us was not. It’s actually North America.
The tariff on China will increase the Tesla’s by about $2500 a car according to Grok, using the actual 54% tariff that currently is on China. 104% was/is rumor s of now. Tesla also is one of top 3 “most American made car” as of right now.
Price per car jumps $5900 if you include all the imported parts, Mexico, Canada, South Korea and Japan. Although I think those more than likely will get worked out.

A friendly reminder that Louisiana itself needs a doge type program to audit BR. We have the highest sales taxes in the country on top of actually having state income tax and property tax. Other states are doing away with income tax but yet LA is broke.
Edited to add; 8th highest tax burden in the country, the top 7 darkest of purple states. Cali, NY, NJ, Hawaii, Illinois, Oregon, Minnesota

re: Was replacing income tax with Tarrifs a lie?
Posted by Reeaholic on 4/6/25 at 4:37 pm
Reading through this and seeing you call someone unintelligent is quite comical. You do not understand what’s going on and that’s ok but don’t act like you do and are smarter than everyone else.
Let’s break it down. Trump’s tariff strategy operates on a few interconnected ideas:
1. **Increased Tariff Revenue**: By imposing tariffs on imported goods, the government collects taxes directly from foreign companies. If these tariffs are high enough and applied broadly, they could generate significant revenue to replace income tax.
2. **Boosting Domestic Economy**: Tariffs make imported goods more expensive, encouraging consumers to buy domestically produced products. This could lead to growth in local industries, creating jobs and increasing corporate profits. The government could then collect revenue through corporate taxes and sales taxes instead of income tax.
3. **Negotiated Trade Deals**: If tariffs are used as leverage to negotiate trade deals where other countries agree to buy more U.S. goods, it could further stimulate the economy. A stronger economy means more taxable transactions (like sales and property taxes), reducing the need for income tax.
4. **Diversified Tax Base**: With tariffs and other taxes (like excise taxes, sales taxes, or value-added taxes) taking on a larger role, the government could shift away from relying on income tax as its primary revenue source.
Some tariffs will stay causing extra revenue for the government and some will go away creating more jobs due to negotiating deals for that country to buy our goods instead of another countries, thus creating more corporate tax revenue.

The asinine thing about this. All those products have been overstocked in warehouses for months in preparation for the tariffs to hit.

What American has been deported? I missed that story.
All I’ve seen in here was a bullshite article with false claims as it was actually an illegal with ties to human trafficking and MS-13, one of the most notorious gangs in the world.
And then a fabricated 5th hand story that read like a reddit poster claiming craziness, even giving a sob veteran story why he can’t communicate.
Edit. Ah, we found the source of the fabricated PR veteran story. Nowhere in the article does it state they took him to Louisiana, or how long he was held. Detaining means going to local ice facility for verification.

I believe you’re right, between confirmation hearings then the budget stuff, it’s kinda kept them busy. Then add in working on “the big beautiful bill” and that’s their 1st 2 months. We are just used to the break neck speed of Trump, Congress moves slower by design so the bills have to be more thorough.
I’m not taking up for them as we really haven’t seen anything about bills yet but it doesn’t mean they haven’t been working on them. Let’s revisit by end of summer is all I’m saying. We better have some bills done by then.

How do you know this? Article only mentioned lawyer saying no charges. He knows the difference especially as an immigration lawyer. He’s likely playing word games.
quote:
I believe ICE claimed she supported Hamas but no details were given as to how she supported them.
By law they do not have to report this. Since Trump has went on deportation kick, 0.1% of student visa holders have been detained/deported. A likely 80% due to overstays. Most of the rest due to work violations and or failure to meet class hour requirements. We’ve maybe 2-3 of these terrorist support detainments and claiming McCarthyism? There are 1.1 to 1.5 million student visa holders. 2 or 3 so far doesn’t quite equate to McCarthyism in my book.
I agree to have skepticism, as it’s needed to hold government accountable but you’re allowing your biases cloud your skepticism. You’re trusting a lawyer that’s paid to play his/her client as a victim. Be skeptical of him/her and ask why he used the word charges instead of violations?
re: PhD student detained by ICE wearing plain clothes and face masks
Posted by Reeaholic on 3/27/25 at 10:29 am
Again, charges are not the same as violations. Charges equal criminal and violations equal civil. Immigration is civil. Has the lawyer said she had no violations told to him? ICE does have to inform him/her of violations and a notice to appear.
Sounds to me lawyer is playing word games for sympathy.

Charges or violations? Different. Charges are public info, violations aren’t for visa holders.
