If mother nature were still in charge then we would have a growing coast line like on the wax delta
The Fed govt fricked up back in the day when they went with the Miss River levee plan that didn't have any flood plain outlets

I never really understood why we dumped $3 billion on a project that will be irrelevant in 50 years. Coastal Restoration is a scam. It will eventually just erode away... like it already has.
$3 billion would go a long way in fixing our traffic problems and bad roadwork in this state.

When our state takes more pride in being raging drunkards than being a decent place to live I doubt it

I guess Jeff Landry is the owner of Louisiana now. Kiss the ring or die.

CPRA has trumpeted the “decision based on science” motto since its inception and it’s worked to keep the projects (and flow of dollars to different parishes) largely apolitical until now. If they deviate and trash the guidance from the world’s best engineers and scientists, who all agree this is the best path, they can trash all the political goodwill and ease of politics they’ve enjoyed to date and it will be all out war among parishes for dollars every year.
The world’s best scientists and engineers are going to move on and solve other peoples problems if we revert to good ole S LA politics like we do for everything else.
The Plaquemines/St Bernard cabal knows no limits between fighting ports and diversions, both foundational pieces for the financial viability for S LA.

I applaud their efforts. However, it has ALWAYS been a foregone conclusion that because of the size, scope, and magnitude of this issue, Mother Nature always wins. It's a wonderful humanitarian gesture, but it's always been destined to fail from Day#1. Just being honest. Mother Nature gonna Mother Nature. It's been happening for millions of years.
Dumb take, look at what the Dutch have done, they have actually reclaimed land from the over the last 50 years.
Watch the first 30 seconds of this YouTube video, for a little education.

"We" didn't. Most of the funding comes from federal grants and the Deepwater Horizon settlement.

Like every project since the 1930s, Mother Nature will win and the Corps will lose.
We keep trying to put tiny bandaids on a hemorrhaging problem when the only real solution is letting the river go where it wants to go. The levees are a disaster too but they’re obviously not going anywhere

In one post you’ve shown you know nothing about this topic, so either read up or just keep quiet.

If there is one thing the dutch have perfected in the modern world, it is anything relating to civil engineering. their transportation methods are unmatched and no where near our car dependent transportation system and like you pointed out, reclaimed land from coastal land loss.
We definitely need to take notes from them

You get what you voted for and Billy Nungesser is shooting himself in the foot fighting this.....he's going to put the nail if the coffin for him to ever be elected to another political position ever again, especially governor....and he's done as Lt Governor.
He has never really had a shot at the big chair and likely never will as there are names with far more recognition out there. The Lt Gov position is his for as long as he wants it, it's about like voting for dog-catcher in that people tend to forget about it and just vote for the most familiar name.
I would wager 70%+ of the voters outside "tha parish" have no idea what this project is, much less why they should care about it (at least, for now). It's certainly not enough to make nor break the political career of anyone in BR.

We elected a governor and allowed him to skip debates, not release any plans, not talk about any issues during the campaign except for "tough on crime" and "tough on illegals".
His most redeeming quality was that he would "stick it to the libs" and that's good enough for the vast majority of this state.
Now we are suprised that the governor - who by the way because of Huey P might be the most powerful governor in the country - is doing things that are catching us by "surprise"? No kidding.
We acutally had good conservatives running for governor with actual plans and policies... and none of them could ever get any voters to pay attention... because voters don't actually care about that stuff... until they do, when it's too late.
