re: What is the best/cheapest way to book a hotel?
Posted by Roy Curado on 4/16/26 at 10:12 am to hassan whiteside
Check all the third party sites, then check directly with the hotel, and then check with any of your credit card travel portals.
My flow typically looks like. Search for a hotel on hotel.com to find a few (I like their UI and its a pretty fast platform), then I find 3 or 4 contenders, then check my chase travel portal to see if they have a better price or point boost. As long as its the same price or cheaper on chase travel, ill book it there because I get more benefits being a Chase Sapphire Reserve holder.
Be careful selecting those government and AAA rates (they are typically not any better and just a marketing ploy nowadays) because they can ask for you to prove you can get that rate.

re: Entergy needs seven new power plants for the META Data Centers

A ton of this anti-data center and water consumption rhetoric is coming from the smelly low lifes at the Alliance for Affordable Energy (bunch of tree hugging wacko green new deal environmentalists).
Do your own research and deep dive into these deals and stop taking propaganda headlines at face value.

Officials announced that Meta planned to fund the construction of seven new power plants that would generate more than 5,200 megawatts of electricity, some 240 miles of new 500 kV transmission lines connecting southern Louisiana to northern Louisiana and Arkansas, upgrade Entergy’s existing nuclear power plants, build up to 2,500 megawatts of solar farms and install batteries to store solar power across three locations to support the data center.

It would. But take 7-10 years to build.

Suggesting accounts "should" be using MFA instead of "must" is laughable in todays threat actor environment.

2 weeks ago, I sprayed WeedBGone and Scott’s Bonus S a few days later. Seems like these have really stressed out my grass.

How much do YOU want to manage it?
If not much, park it in a HYSA or keep buying CDs.

re: What % of your net take home pay is your mortgage payment?
Posted by Roy Curado on 4/8/26 at 10:20 am to Brobocop
33.7%. This is accounting for both my rental and primary mortgages and I am factoring in my rental income into my net income.
Just my primary and all net income minus rental income = 25.4%

If you like all the coasters, its a 2 day park. If you just enjoy theme parks, you could get by with 1 day. I did 2 and didnt feel like I got old of it and I am not a huge coaster person.

Lauberge has them on Fridays and Saturday but I know they sometimes switch to AYCE crawfish during crawfish season.
Make the drive to Silver Slipper or some of the Biloxi/Gulfport Casinos that have them.
There are a few seafood buffets in South LA that sometimes have them like a place in Ville Platte and Loranger. I forget the names of those.

re: Carnival cruise
Posted by Roy Curado on 4/7/26 at 8:15 am to TowBROater
I took a Carnival Cruise from NOLA about 2 years ago during Mardi Gras break. While I did notice the riff raff, it didnt bother us too much but it was obvious. Wife wants to do another cruise out of NOLA and the only reason why I am considering it again is because the Carnival Liberty has a decent itinerary from May-1st week of July this year.

Haven't done this in quite some time. Any tips, tricks, recs?
I went to Mattress Firm on Saturday and while I walked out, the salesman "doubled" my savings from $300 to $600 on what I was looking at.

didn’t leave feeling like it was some great movie
As a huge Interstellar movie fan... this is exactly how I felt afterwards as well. I had zero expectations /knowledge about the movie going into it and completely lost interest when the great value Wall-E thing was revealed instead of some cool alien creature looking thing.
5/10 rating. Not sure why so many people are drooling over this slow, quirky, and simplistic knock off Interstellar/Wall-E dupe.
