I think many women have zero clue what something costs

Both are outrageous. If you can’t take a girl out and have a nice time for $100 or less, someone has a problem.

maybe after a couple of dates...but first date...no way. Now this was an NYP article so maybe up there that is common I dunno.
Good restaurants in NY Metro tend to be expensive so that's not so much for here.

This is not realistic and most girls would find it weird. Going to a restaurant for drinks then end up ordering food is typical
And that's why they'll most likely still end up single. Guys these days are onto this entitlement crap and are checking out. The trends/stats show that people are becoming single and remaining single more and more all the time. No wonder.

For $220.00 you could get a hooker from back page, nut and tell her to get the Fuuk out.
and she wont ever get mad

What woman in 2023 with every true crime show out there….is going to a man’s house on a first date??
It's been quite a while since I've been in the dating world, but I see your point,
Back in the teens I can remember it working well. Not much different than meeting someone out at a bar and taking them home.
Was it smart? Probably not. But I didn't axe murder a single one of them.
Didn't hurt that I had a full bar at the house either. Made deciding to retire there easier.
I just don't care for going out because I can cook better for a fraction of the price on a lot of things and enjoy the experience. I didn't care but it was always an option after the first meet up and usually happened.

I went on a date recently and dinner with a few drinks each cost $160. If you have after dinner drinks, I can see you spending upward to $220 for a night out.

I’m sorry, but $170+ on a date is what we reserve for a special occasions. Happily my SO and I agree on this topic.
I’m not paying anywhere near that on a first date. People have lost their minds

Most women I know that are currently single and dating have no issues with coffee dates. I will likely start dating again next month and will be fine with coffee dates.
The whole point of the coffee date is so you can see if you click with the person. If you don’t….date is over. If you do, then you can continue the date and go do something else together. Go out to eat, walk around a park, whatever.

I can’t tell if broke Reddit losers have infiltrated this site or we have people who consider Texas Roadhouse as nice
Decent Tex mex dinner + drinks is $100 after tip let alone something nice

They mostly attract men who are a decade older than they are, but they won't consider anyone cheap.
It's kind of an interesting cycle. They find a good prospective companion and after a few dates they have to find out if the ding-dong still works. That's important too. Two are now married, but one has a very demanding set of requirements and has given up. They are all successful in their own right and have their own businesses so they aren't wall flowers.

The survey is saying they're spending $189+ every time they go out on a date.
I think most people would consider $100 or more for a nice dinner. But I would think some more casual stuff, like grabbing coffee or lunch, would be in there as well for less than $189 an outing.

Usually it's the men that are ax murderers.
No woman should go to the home of a man or take home a man that she just met. Totally not safe.

i get this sentiment and maybe its because im out of the dating world for last 17 years but... i mean if you go on 2-3 dates a week... that shite adds up.

It’s been infiltrated by people who have common sense. Read the article, people are spending this money on every single date on average.
quote:
The average person has gone on $3,025.12 worth of dates within the past year, according to new research.
Obviously that includes first dates. If you take every first date to a $200 dinner then you will end up as a broke loser. Law of averages says that most of those women aren’t anywhere near worth the expenditure.

Most of my friends that have done dating apps would meet for either coffee or more likely, drinks. They wouldn't plan on it being a big "date" on the first date. It's a meet each other and decide if it want a real date.

ETA- also why is everyone skipping over the “good date” part? That’s pretty important
And “date” needs to be defined. A married/cohabiting couple getting texmex for lunch on a Saturday is not a “date” in my mind
