And look, I get it, I wouldn't tell my daughter to do it...

But I wasn't an axe murderer on the first date any more than the 5th.

Although they were usually less crazy on the first than the third

Anyway, my point was really, on whatever date you are comfortable being alone together, shopping and cooking is a better date than eating out at a restaurant (if you can cook)

And far more economical

ETA: this is even more true for a double date.

I mean, making pasta, drinking wine, playing games?

I'd take that over an expensive restaurant any day.

So you’re saying it’s better to put out to avoid rumors and up your bed cred. I like it!

Honest question...wtf invites someone over to the house on the first date...like...maybe if it was someone that you knew and had already hung out and it was the first 'official' date, but no...you will not know where I live until I know you aren't completely batshite.

One thing I learned rather quickly when dating is that the majority of women are trained users. Period.

Fortunately, I have several narcissist female friends that would help guide me through the BS until I met the amazing woman I am with now.

We are both .2 on that dating scale that was released a while back lol

She isn't a materialistic woman at all. I'm still struggling to get used to it after being married to a woman that HAD to have the latest and greatest to keep up with her friends. It was exhausting and I can only imagine what dating her today would be like.

Just kidding, I laugh my arse off.

THIS! one of my male friends used to bring those psychos back to his house that he met online. I had to make a rule that he could not bring online girls to my house because they were not even ok casually.

Desperation

If a date is coming back to my place it will be after several dates and after I know I'm not going to wake up missing a kidney or my huevos.

Yeah, looking back it was a ridiculous idea. Especially early on. But once you are pretty sure they aren't psycho, it's a great date that won't break the bank and is a lot more fun.

But if people want to spend 200 plus dollars on someone they'll never see again, who am I to stop them?

Food, preferably appetizers at a decent bar.
Few drinks.
Should be about $100.

My wife was fine w that.

I had this conversation with my coworker earlier on. I’ve paid on pretty much every first date I’ve ever gone on and she believes it’s “letting the man be the man” to let him pay.

Neither way is wrong—we’re both happily married. I think some people read way too much into things.

I agree wholeheartedly here. I just won't let a woman near my home before I know that her knowing where I live is of no consequence to myself or my son.
