Museums are the best first date spots, especially if they're in a walkable downtown area.
They're either cheap or free, the exhibitions and displays provide a conversational focal point, and you don't come across as a completely uncouth baw.
If you enjoy the time, ask them if they want to go have a drink nearby. If not, just move on.

Okay I just lol'd.
FWIW, I never did a FIRST date at a grocery store. But once I was comfortable with or seeing someone, yeah, shopping together is a fun date. You get to figure out cuisine, obtain supplies, cook people watch, chat about stuff.
Plus it's a good chance to go "oooh. I know we are doing scallops and little neck clams
tonight but let's try making ravioli next time." And plan another date.
I guess I just like to cook and to cook for people. Didn't care if it was a date, a stranger, group of friends.
Used to love cooking at tailgates and feeding whoever and hearing those sounds when people were enjoying it.
But maybe that's just a me thing

My wife and I have been together for 20 years, we have two kids, have traveled the world, bought two houses, and have done so many wonderful things together. Other than our children, cooking meals together has provided some of our favorite memories.

It's insane but that's just what things cost these days. I live in Dallas and it's around $200 for a night of going out to dinner and a drink with my girlfriend
$15 Uber
Dinner at good mid level restaurant:
$12 appetizer
$25 per meal X2
$16 drink X2
$7 beer X2
$20 gratuity
Bar after dinner
$16 drink X2
$15 Uber home

Nothing. If you are worth spending time with I should be able to do so on a tailgate just as easily as a white tablecloth overpriced establishment.

$200-ish sounds about right for a nice dinner and some drinks afterwards. Some of y’all need to graduate from Buffalo Wild Wings.

First date: lunch, always lunch.

I spent $180 on drinks on a date this time last year.

Kind of correlates with the obesity epidemic

Rub should be $50 with a $40 tip for a good tug.

I think watching sports on TV and cooking some dinner together makes a wonderful date.

How about meet out for a coffee or a drink to scope each other out, make sure she isn't an axe murderer, and then back to the house for cooking together, some wine and a movie?
Sound advice. I’ve tried to go all out before to impress a date and it didn’t quite work out the way i hoped.

My wife and I's first date was 5 whole days....

Spent $125 on a first date at a nicer restaurant last weekend and I realized about halfway in that we weren't a match.
Won't be doing that again.

You need to live a little man. Take a chance every now and then.
