He recorded descriptions of the pain experienced after each one. True story, on one bite he wrote, “why did I start making this list?” LOL

There was a show on History or Discovery channel that was two guys traveling the world getting stung/bitten by shite. I think it lasted a season or two.

One of my sons is a beekeeper who made a mistake with a very aggressive hive. He drove over just afterwards and I stopped counting at 50 beestings on his upper back. His entire upper body had bee stings. I don't know how he took it, but he did. Bee stings hurt the crud out of me, I'd rather be stung by a wasp.
He eliminated that hive shortly thereafter. He very rarely gets stung, this was just an aggressive hive on a very bad day coupled with hurried suiting up.

The cow killer stung the underside of my right thumb. The discomfort was intense. Few days later, received an injection to relieve the itching and swelling.
Good luck to you.

When my son was about 10 months old he got stung by a half dead red paper wasp.
It was dead and he rolled over it. Stung him 2-3 times. Kid cried for like a good 10 seconds.
I'm pretty sure he absorbed its natural strength and now is invincible because that kid runs through walls and refuses to cry.

Who the hell is Schmidt and how did he determine rank for pain?

One got me on the back of my hand a few years ago.
10 minutes after the sting with zero relief, I drove my arse back to the office and injected myself with a bunch of lidocaine.
Those little bastards hurt. "
10 whole minutes,huh?

I tried to pick one of these up when I was a little boy.
It stung me on the finger and I thought my finger died and was going to fall off it hurt so bad.

Same happened to my brother when he was around 10. Saw the pretty “ant” and picked up a small piece of trash on the ground and got the velvet ant to crawl on it to pick it up. Took about 0.2 seconds for the ant to zoom across the 3 inch piece of paper and sting his finger.
Yellow jackets aren’t too bad individually. I’ve had some red wasp stings that hurt like a mofo - one in the knee that made the joint swell up and hurt for a couple days. Got hit by 7 yellow jackets on the throat, neck, back a couple years ago, and didn’t even realize it was stings til the 3rd or 4th hit…and the pain subsided pretty fast. I’ll take 3-4 yellow jacket stings over 1 red wasp sting.

How does it compare to one of those black fuzzy caterpillars?

I know two things for absolute certain:
1. I have been stung by multiple of the big solid red wasps at once.
2. If it hurts worse than that, I don’t want it.

I was stung by one when I was in 3rd grade. I thought my fricking finger fell off. I’ll never forget that fricker making that squeaking noise and then watch what was longest stinger in the world come out and disappear into my hand.

when I was 10 years old I thought it look like it would be fun to pick up and play with in my front yard. I was wrong. Does not play well with others.

Known in GA as a Cow Ant…because one sting can drop a cow. To be avoided at all costs. Also, noted that they’re so mean they travel alone.
Respect for surviving.

Not only will they frick you up with their sting they’re indestructible. I don’t think they have any known predators because they’re such nasty little bastards.

In an experimental setting, only two lizard species (one whiptail and one side-blotched lizard) attacked a velvet ant it was exposed to.[12] In both cases the velvet ants were exhibiting rapid lateral and vertical movements to ward off an attack. Once the attack occurred the velvet ants would immediately sting the lizards. This sting resulted in the dropping of the ants in both cases and avoidance for the remainder of the trial.[14] The side-blotched lizard was found dead in its tank 24 hours later.[12] The side-blotched lizard is a natural predator of velvet ants, while the whiptail is not.[12]

If I had caught that thing after it stung me I would take my time killing it
