100%. Been beating this drum for years. It’s even more important now as NIL and the transfer portal evens out the talent pool.

You have a respected head coach who can spot and recruit other great coaches to join their staff, it feeds upon itself.

LSU has relied too heavily on being the highest bidder vs. a destination where both players and coaches can develop and advance their careers.

I believe Kiffin will make LSU a destination again vs. simply a piggy bank and bridge to retirement.

First time in 26 years we have a head coach that other teams wanted to hire. Let that sink in.
There are a number of people in the media that look down on LSU. They see the state as backwards and not on the same level intellectually or socially. When LSU succeeds in attracting someone they previously considered as refined or successful, they lose their minds.
That is a long way to say - “be happy that for the first time since Saban, we have a coach whose success at LSU, draws interest from other programs.”

Last time LSU hired a head football coach that another school wanted to poach while they were here - Arnsparger and Saban.
Like you, I am not on the edge of my seat. LSU’s coaching hires have not been stellar. Since 1984, LSU has had only two coaches that someone else wanted to hire after they came here - Saban and Arnsparger. Not a great track record.

Make no mistake, coaching is the differentiator. NIL has leveled the playing field and you have to have good coaching. The days of someone like Jimbo, Les, or Ed raising the hardware are over. Fingers crossed LSU’s butt lands in butter and we hit the mark for the first time in 25 years.

PS - before you bring up Miles, read this:

But before Miles agreed to take it, he asked Michigan to show him the love, to show him something - anything really - that indicated he would be the next Wolverines' coach. He got silence in return.
No call, no love, no offer

No more frequent flyer bitch miles for my boy

That’s true, but I still wish Landry would stop airing his dirty la(u)ndry in public.
This. His comments did not benefit anyone or anything. Made him look like a buffoon.

This is the crux of our suffering. Bad hires = expensive buyouts and big contracts for the replacements. While one side of the ball is clicking, the other has stumbled. Hasn’t been able to get both units on solid footing at the same time.
As a former Charlottean (2001 - 2024) in finance, I appreciate the itch to relocate and pursue a different profession. We have called Wilmington home since last summer and as dstone12 highlighted, you may want to consider oysters. This company is not too old and would be a good business model to replicate: N. SEA Oyster Co

Located in Hampstead, NC, they have a venue that brings in customers or keeps them there when they arrive to pick up an order. If you are interested in raising shellfish in NC, follow this link: Department of Environmental Quality
