There are parts of Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas and Colorado where I’d like to live.

The people that claim they’d like to live hours from civilization haven’t really thought things through. Far from an airport makes seeing family very difficult. As you get older you want to be closer to a hospital and a network of doctors.

We sought out a small city with an airport close by that has at least one college and a centralized walkable downtown. Other requirements were a mild summer and not prone to destructive episodic weather (hurricanes and tornadoes). We initially narrowed the list to Burlington, Boise, Boulder, Ithaca, and Madison.

Never thought about Lexington and it's location but you are right

My wife and I are planning to move to NW Georgia next summer. We plan on building a house in between Atlanta and Rome. My company is also building a brand new facility in the area where we will be living so I plan on transferring to said facility.

Don't forget our gawd aweful roads, worst in the nation. we'll probably follow our oldest son and wife once they have kids. I'm guessing they'll end up in Little Rock or Colorado Springs. They are both pilots for the AF and will retire in a few years (subtle brag thrown in).

I wonder how this happened prior to readily available commercial aviation. How did we ever do it...

Believe it or not people just weren’t nearly as mobile. The transient lifestyle people enjoy today was basically unheard of in past generations.

I’m not saying migration and even mass migration didn’t exist. People just didn’t go backs and forth with regularity. For generations the majority of people didn’t move far from where they were born. Louisiana is a great example of this. It’s one of the least transient states meaning not many people leave and not many people relocate there.

5 years 4 months and me and the family are gone. My kids won’t start thier adult lives nor will my grand kids be raised in this shithole. I see the real things that happen here that aren’t on the news. However bad you think of BR and surrounding areas are multiple that by 100. Louisiana has food crawfish and LSU. I can have 2 out of 3 anywhere and watch LSU literally anywhere on planet earth. But to answer your question I’m thinking East Tennessee north GA or of course gulf coast of Florida.

The gulf coast of Florida has the same heat, threat of storms, and ever increasing insurance rates as Louisiana. Crime rates might be better depending on where you live in Louisiana.

I’ve been applying for jobs there the last few weeks. If I could find a job that pays me enough to live in San Diego, I would take it and never look back.

NWA is doing some interesting things with help from the several major corporations headquartered there. (Walmart, Tyson Foods, and J. B. Hunt Trucking.) We visited not long ago, and were impressed by their execution of long-range planning to attract a young, tech-savvy, outdoor enthusiast demographic. Our friends’ daughter and her bf recently relocated there from the upper midwest, and they love it.

I’m building a house in Sarasota right now. Moving my 3 small kids before they get too old and we get stuck for another 20 years. I’m done with Louisiana.

Are black people and black culture synonymous? I don't have any issues with the God-given color of someone's skin. But the man-made culture - I struggle to find what redeeming qualities there are in it. If there are some, pray tell.

Most people who simply want to live their lives in quietness and freedom have to weigh all the factors and that is one that must be considered regardless of race.

My grandparents did the same thing from Shreveport…Cave City to be exact. Some of my fondest memories are from spending summers and Xmas holidays up there. Great hunting and fishing all around.

It’s hard to believe the “mountains” and streams are only 1 state away.
