Are you getting a divorce because your wife didn't like you being gone all the time? I guess the money's not worth it.

Put it all in growth/tech. SMH ETF is good one. If you had put $10k in it 10 years ago you'd have $180k today.

We lived in the Ft. Lauderdale area in the 80s and there was a power plant that had a hot water outflow. The manatees would gather there for the warm water and we'd feed them cabbage, it was a very cool thing to see.

Yeah, and priests forgive your sins.
1. Authority Structure: Critics argue that the Pope is treated as an infallible, unquestionable leader, similar to a cult leader.
2. "Works-Based" Salvation: Some argue that Catholic teachings on salvation (faith plus works/sacraments) contradict the biblical doctrine of salvation by grace alone, making it a "false religion" or "heretical".
3. Veneration of Mary and Saints: Practices like praying to Mary and the saints are seen by some as idolatry or a "cult" of worship separate from Christ.
4. Traditional Authority vs. Scripture: The view that the Church puts its own traditions and magisterium on par with, or above, the Bible is cited as a cult-like characteristic.
5. Specific Sub-Groups: Some note that while the Church as a whole is not a cult, certain, more insular movements within it, such as Opus Dei, can display cult-like behaviors.
Your right in there with the LDS church

Wow, you are arrogant and confused. The rituals and relationship with God only through priests qualifies as a cult.

Dad didnt teach me crap. Had to learn everything on my own, turned out prettyyyy damn good if I do say so myself.
This. And I turned out ok. He was a horrible father. He never said I love you, ever. (I adored my mom she was my shield but died when I was 24.) So when I married and had 3 sons I did just the opposite of him. I let them know I loved them, supported them with school, sports, scouting, spiritually, etc. My first son was born profoundly disabled (CP) and my dad died 2 days later unexpectedly of an aneurism. That was the lowest point of my life. I finally figured it was my father God in heaven drawing me closer to him during my depression and grief since there were sooo many unresolved issues with my own father. Having a disabled child is such a great challenge and it helped my wife and I to focus and prepare for the birth of our next 2 children. Our disabled son passed in 2011 at 23. Our other 2 sons grew into terrific men. Both honor roll, athletes, eagle scouts, USAFA grads, and pilots. Both married to amazing girls they met at church. We are expecting our first grandchild next month! Please pray for them! I can't wait to be a doting grandpa!

re: Christian Nationalism- Threat or Goal?
Posted by RedlandsTiger on 1/18/26 at 4:33 pm to LSUtwolves
Not Strictly One or the Other: Most founders weren't purely one or the other; they blended Christian heritage with Enlightenment Deism, creating a complex religious landscape. But it is still based on moral principles.

These guys made it as actors, but it took decades;
Gene Hackman's most famous roommates were fellow legendary actors Dustin Hoffman and Robert Duvall, with whom he shared cramped New York City apartments in the late 1950s and 1960s while they were struggling to find acting work, forming a tight-knit trio of future stars before they became household names. They supported each other, scrounged for jobs, and even argued over acting methods, creating a legendary shared history in the acting world.
Key Details about Their Roommate Days:
The Crew: Hackman, Hoffman, and Duvall were all Southern California natives who met at the Pasadena Playhouse and later found themselves in NYC.
Living Conditions: They shared modest apartments, with Hoffman famously sleeping on the kitchen floor of Hackman's place initially before they all moved in together.
Shared Struggles: They experienced the lean times of struggling actors, taking on menial jobs and honing their craft.
Iconic Trio: They are remembered as an inseparable group, often called the "three musketeers," whose combined careers later earned numerous accolades.

My son is a pilot in the Air Force, based in Spokane (was in Colorado Springs while at the academy). He has a wife, plenty of money, and could drive anything he'd like, but chose a Subaru (the wife has one too). They are great cars. Reliable, fuel efficient, roomy and practical in places you need AWD to drive the roads in bad weather. Y'all keep saying it's just for lesbians and look dumb.

The price of your home doubled from 2019. You paid too much for it in the bidding war. And it faces a busy street. Time for an adjustment or stay in the house.

I never put my front license plate on when I lived in California. But I carried it in the trunk incase I ever was stopped by a cop. (I didn't like the look.) I never was stopped in the 17 years I had the car.
re: U.S. Military no longer supporting Scouts
Posted by RedlandsTiger on 11/25/25 at 3:10 pm to biglego
That must have been Cub Scouts. Boy Scouts start at 11 years old. As everyone has pointed out, you need to get involved in a Pack or Troop and make it better. It's about building a culture that's engaging and fun. And along the way the kids become more self confident, adventurous and better citizens. Parental involvement is prime.
