I’ve noticed a few noted Democrats/Independents such as Green Chili Tiger, boosiebadazz, and nawlinstiger9 post about their new support for Ron. What DeSantis policies do these folks and others you may know support that Trump didn’t support or opposed?

Curious about the idealogical principles here at play for supporting DeSantis when one didn’t vote for or opposed Trump.

One thing he is getting some play here for and Trump is getting ripped on is the difference on SS/Medicare. Trump sounds like a Dem ("Ron is going to take your money away") and Ron mumbled something about making changes. Other than that, I don't think we really know what his policies would be. GumboPot keeps saying he would be neocon on war, shitty trade deals, and open borders. I disagree on borders, that's a huge part of Ron's identity. But, I suspect Gumbo is right on the other two.

Many like the guy because he speaks directly without constantly talking about himself, regardless the issue being discussed. It’s a great place to start for any politician

I support DeSantis, N, as his policy basis is in line with Trump America First policy. And he is very eloquent in publicly elucidating it, not the 'raw' version like Trump.

Most of the new support is going to Ron because Trump has been so maligned - 24-7 for years by the Leftis MSM - that he has lost the possibility of gullible but valid voters. And there are a lot of family-based women who will NEVER vote for Trump because of his "if you are rich and famous, you can grab them in the p&%^y or do anything" comment. That hit home and went deep.

It's pragmatic. A lot of Trump (policy guided) supporters just think Ron has a better shot at winning given the dynamics. Of course, many on the Right doubt Ron's ability to withstand the Deep State/Globalist attacks if he even gets in. Think McCarthy, and his wobbling on releasing the Jan. 6 stuff.

The Dems will gas light their street if the Right ever shuts them down, and sooner or later the heathen will have to met with force, just like down in Venezuela. And given the 'racism card' here, we all know where that goes.

Mostly maturity, competency, and a base set of first order principles.

What’s your gripe with Ron?

as a FL resident I greatly appreciated his COVID policies

he reopened far earlier than pretty much every other state

things were pretty much back to normal here while states like CA & NY were still essentially shut down

As a Desantis supporter and nevertrumper I hope he adds a few things to his policies.

1. All freezers must be stocked with pizza rolls
2. Monthly switch game from the wife’s bf
3. Get rid of the sin tax on double hopped ipas
4. Bring back flavored vape pens

DeSantis is against home rule. Florida leads the nation in preemption legislation. He’s also spending millions on climate change initiatives.

The policy of keeping his mouth shut to avoid stepping on his own dick regularly.

I like his willingness to work with Schumer on "comprehensive immigration reform" which will finally close the the border and give amnesty and a path to citizenship for so many tens of millions here for a better life.

trump will be indicted in Georgia. the previous grand jury spokes person let us know its coming.
march 1st was first day possible to crank up the next grand jury.

once the case is ongoing we will get blow by blow on the case like for OJ.

if he loses he won't be allowed on the ballot in Georgia. he will appeal that around the edges. supreme court gets to rule against states rights. i doubt it.
his only viable defense is to get the case moved to a federal court so his appointee can rule hid call was just perfect.

Because Ron will continue with interventionalist foreign policy, lax border policy and faux-free trade deals. This is what the uniparty cherishes. This is where the uniparty makes money. Ron will keep it rolling. Trump disrupts the gravy train. Heck, it is the real reason they impeached him twice. The uniparty wouldn't care about mean tweets if Trump gave them what they want on borders, trade and war. They would love him. But Trump did/does the opposite of what the uniparty wants so they hate him.

RDD and DJT seem fairly similar as far as policy is concerned.

The TD hate for DeSantis is hilarious. You guys get so worked up, like women, over the dumbest things.

I want to preface this by saying that I'm not specifically a DeSantis supporter. I do think that Florida's state government has been reasonably well run lately. I do credit DeSantis for a substantial portion of the real progress being made in Florida. I also quietly appreciate anyone that causes this must disconcertment among members of our media/entertainment industry.

DeSantis is definitely not my horse right now. But he will be if the decision ultimately comes down to a choice between DeSantis and Biden.
