All I will say regarding this is, the world used to be a far different place.

And 1 cold beer isn't enough to impair a driver nearly as much as trying to talk or text on a phone.

Probably been a couple decades since you could do something like this and not be socially destroyed.

The 20th century all n all, was a great century. I'd rate it as the best I've seen.

Speaking from experience, I've been pulled over 3 or 4 times with an open container (Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana) and never even got a ticket. One of the cops didn't even make me pour it out... just told me not to drink until I made it home.

Now imagine the poor souls like me who weren't so lucky, have life long consequences to deal with, and know full well that everyone is out there drinking but my name is the one on Google next to DUI 15, 20 years after the incident.

You guys are here to say, "go ahead nothing will happen". I'm just here to point out that your advice sucks.

It wasn't until around 1985 that LA made it illegal to drink alcohol while driving. Driving DRUNK was illegal but it was perfectly OK to have an open container and be driving. I was raised around it and it wasn't until I was out of state and in college that I realized it wasn't normal. I grabbed a beer for the drive to a bar one night and the guys in the car with me looked at me like I lost my damn mind.

At the 2001 SEC Championship we hung around the parking lot for two hours; drinking beer and waiting for traffic to die down. When we started to pack up to leave two Atlanta cops who were working the game came up and bummed a couple of beers off of us "for the drive home". We got a laugh out of it.

Once worked with a fella who picked up a tall boy and a sixer every day on the way home. Downed the tall boy and one out of the sixer before polishing off the rest upon arrival. Every night

I have friends tell me that College Station LE are some of the worse about writing open container tickets.

One friend got a ticket because he had some old empties rolling around on the passenger side floor board.

Another friend worked in a restaurant. Some customers had a big holiday party and at the end of which there were several opened barely touched bottles of wine leftover. Restaurant manager told her she could have them, so she corked them up, threw them in the backseat and drove home. On the way, got pulled over, cop saw the wine bottles and ticketed her for open containers, even though she wasn't even drinking.

Depending on how my day went at work. If it was a shite day I grab a 16 oz road beer. I have a 40 minute ride home. No shame in my game.

I used to buy a pint of cheap vodka and mix about half of it with a Vitamin Water or Gatorade for the ride home. Of course, I was also a raging alcoholic at the time.

Yes I did…when my commute was 45 mins to1.5 hours and the ice kept. Rodeo cold was fine sometimes.

Always have a sleeve of 24j16 stryo’s in the truck to keep the man from seeing.

Now there’s no commute and it’s always cold in the garage frig.

Well, that statement speaks volumes about one looking down their nose at the working man who toils for a living.

Comical. Should have just asked them if they arrest everyone who picks up litter.

The rookie Kenna brah cop had zero chill or sense of humor. At least the judge thought it was stupid enough to throw out the case and give me back my $76 in bail money.
