I have to admit, I enjoy an occasional roadie. But, it is more often pregaming versus returning home from work.

Only in my younger years when I was doing manual labor or working in a hot kitchen. Usually just sit at the bar then cause it was difficult to sneak out a shift beer at the time. Different world these days pretty sure those cats just grab and go now with no issues from the owner.

Only on Fridays.

After a long hard week of work, a grown arse man or lebesian woman should be able to pop the top on a cold beer on their drive home.

There is nothing better than the first sip of a road beer on a Friday afternoon heading home from work.

I've had a light blonde before if I hadn't had anything that day yet. A brewery showed me a trick with the new plastic holders where you can just pop a used beer right back in.

Or early in the morning on the way to the blind.

After a long day's work? I'm not talking about drinking and driving plastered. Just a tallboy. I remember my dad doing this and all his friends, as well.

Crazy thing is.... it's perfectly legal in Mississippi.

They can and do in Kenner. I was in the back seat with an empty beer can I forgot to throw away when we left one party and I didn't want to toss it in front of my buddies house so I hung on to it to pitch when we got to the next house and it got me 6 hours in lockup. They called in crime scene to take picture of the can, finger printed it and everything.

Comical. Should have just asked them if they arrest everyone who picks up litter.

Only One time.

When I was 17, driving home from work, an older coworker bought 2 bud tall boys. He was in the passenger seat and opened both and handed me one.

2 mins later, we were driving down highland rd and there was a tree that had fallen and an officer (on foot) stopped us to tell us to turn around.

He saw my coworkers Bud can, but not mine(hid in side panel) and he laid into my coworker making him dump the contents then told me that he could arrest me as the driver for allowing him to have to open container in the car.

That was all I needed. For whatever SHITTY reason, whenever I do anything wrong I get caught. So it’s kept me from getting close to the line in real life. (I use online to vent)

So now that you've had at least 3 people speaking from experience telling you that your assumptions are wrong, you still wanna talk about the way you have it figured?

I'll check the newspaper later for all of the open container arrests. Otherwise I've never heard of this and have never known a single person this has happened to. And I have been pulled over with an open beer before. More than once IIRC.

Oh it's trashy at best and an easy excuse to get in a lot of trouble if you get in an accident. Dumb hicks have to drink a beer on the way home from work. And to that point one beer doesn't accomplish anything.

I'm literally in federal law enforcement and will have a road soda after a particularly hard day, it really isn't as big of a deal as you're making it. Unless you're 5'0 and 115lbs, one beer isn't going to put you anywhere near the legal limit. But it does tend to relax the nerves a bit, and an ice cold beer after a hot, shitty day just has a calming effect that nothing else can replicate.

I usually just wait until I get home for a beer if I want one, but on certain days it can turn a horrible day into a relaxing afternoon and night.

I will grab a beer on my way home and drink it at my house. I don't drink and drive, got too much to lose. My father used to drive with a full ice chest of beer though and I remember he would pull over and grab a fresh one. He had a problem obviously.

Interesting that still "you've never heard of this" after hearing it repeatedly in this thread.

It hasn't happened to you yet. Got it.

I'm just offering a heads up to people about the potential outcomes of their road beers. Maybe that outcome will be deserved or maybe it will be extremely unfair. Food for thought.

Speaking from experience, I've been pulled over 3 or 4 times with an open container (Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana) and never even got a ticket. One of the cops didn't even make me pour it out... just told me not to drink until I made it home.

I am white as frick tho so it could be my privilege.

I work in a lot of people's homes, and frequently they're not there. At the end of the day I usually go through the fridge and find a cold one or two to take...

No big deal.

Just about every day when working construction jobs. Out in the elements all day long eating dust, dirt, hot and sweaty by days end.

Stopped at the first convenience store and fished a cold one out of the open bin of beer like a giant ice chest to ease the thirst.

Still do that when working in the yard at home when done. Hit the man cave, open the fridge and fish out an ice cold bottle of beer and let it do what it does best.
