Tulane at 22 gets in?

Well they would be a conference champion.

That's why the CFP is now recommending that the format is changed from a 6+6 to a 5+7 before next year. This would bump Tulane out and give another at-large bid in lieu of AAC getting an automatic bid.

Highest ranked go5 has nothing to do with any conference champion

That looks like fun

So 4 SEC teams would be in. Once again, this is not going to be fair to the rest of the conferences.

SEC finna eat!!

LSU should be in. They are one of the best 12 teams in the country.

Agreed. The BCS could have easily been a playoff with the four bowls, eight teams. Done.

Still one weekend to go ... Texas loses to Okie State this weekend and LSU would be in. Get ready for a trip to the CFP to be the new minimum acceptable bar.
user avatar

Sorry - ignore. I forgot Okie State would then get in. But I still think with 12 teams a visit to the CFP is going to be the new expectation.

Expect more holding penalties now as the refs manage the outcomes for more profitable venue participation.

Does sec get rid of conf championship game?

Feels like it will bump our own teams out of contention

Tulane or SMU possibly going to playoffs would be terrible and a waste of time.

I’m not sure I understand the expanded playoff if it isn’t to give teams like them a chance.
user avatar
Chicken18 months
Sure, give them a chance, but don't let them in unless they are at least a certain ranking...

Oregon would dog walk Tulane. Tulane has no business sniffing a CFP.
user avatar
Timeoday18 months
Tulane is the only team in Top 25 Oregon would dog walk.

Ask USC if Tulane is easy to dog walk.
The point of expansion is to allow a g5 champion in and Tulane is the best one this year.
I'm an LSU fan and even I see that Tulane would deserve a shot.

In this scenario, LSU gets punished severely for scheduling a tough OOC game.

Just wait till one of these years a 3 loss 12 seed gets hot at the right time and wins it all and people will be longing for the BCS days

You fricking retard. This is exactly why this format works and is exciting for everyone and not just a select few.

People will still argue they got hosed. Basketball is 64 and people complain. Meanwhile the regular season becomes meaningless
user avatar
MeanStreak18 months
Your argument is incredibly flawed. First you are going to have so many more teams with meaningful games, especially in November when you are normally only down to a handful. Second, every “meaningful game” you had isn’t lost, it’s just moving to the playoffs. You will have 8 playoff games you didn’t have with the more meaning than the ones you supposedly lost in the regular season.

Having a home game with a random top program is so much cooler than a neutral site.
