There’s a ton of ignorance on this thread on how self defense works and when it is lawful. Based on the facts so far, the homeowner is screwed. In order to use deadly self defense (shooting at someone is deadly self defense) you have to be under an imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm. Just trespassing doesn’t cut it.
There’s a ton of ignorance in this threa. We’ve had a Chevy Volt (plug in hybrid with 50 mi on the battery before the gas generator kicks in, about 350 min range total) since 2016 and a Chevy Bolt (all electric with 240 mi range) since 2017. Horses for courses, but we’ve been very happy with our fleet. Some observations:

- If you live somewhere where you can install a level 2 charger (less than $1000 all in) you start your day everyday with a full battery. That’s a game changer. How often do you start your day with a full tank of gas? Our electric bill is only about 60/mo more charging both cars as they charge during non peak hours. You basically have the gas station in your garage.

- GM SHAT the bed and SHAT the bed hard with the Volt. I would argue that the Volt was the most innovative car that has come out of GM in decades. They had an edge on Toyota hybrids with battery range as well as Tesla because of 0 range anxiety. I’ve gone weeks solely on battery with the Volt. GM screwed up big time by not expanding the Voltec drivetrain to the Equinox, Traverse, and Silverado. Imagine the current V6 Silverado with a battery range of 100 miles. Can still tow, no range anxiety, with an inverter, can power a jobsite, etc.

The Volt is the perfect commuter car. Unfortunately, GM was too dumb to figure it out.

- EV’s shine in traffic with stop and go driving and regen.

I hope Horvath isn't going to be a Marine Corps officer

He service selected Navy Pilot. At the game, not sure they showed it on TV but Horvath took a massive headshot on the first drive. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was concussed the whole game.

You mean Conner Mare?

It'll get glossed over by the media, but it's an issue that needs to be addressed. Bama being touted for having the best win, yet that same team just violated them by 3 touchdowns yesterday giving them their 3rd loss. The committee is telling us that brand and name of the university matters.

It’s almost like losses don’t matter. Sure, you have a great win, but losing to a horrible FSU team should mean more.
Cignetti out coached college football this year. Every school in the P4 except maybe Georgia and Oregon would fire their coach immediately if Cig called and said he wanted to coach there.

Ohio State’s Oline is the best I’ve seen this year. Indiana isn’t winning a rematch

That O-Line got dominated by Indiana’s D-Line. 5 sacks.

While Bama played a 13th game, the second time they played UGA this season (they won @ UGA already), a team that couldn’t even qualify for the pathetic ACC championship game (Miami), and a team whose best win is USC-w (Notre Dame) had bye weeks. Now some absolute mouth breathing retards on here who don’t know shite about frick when it comes to ranking teams want to be like “BAMA DONT DESERVE TO MAKE DA PLAYOFFS NOW!”

Don’t lose three games with one of them being a crappy team.

Penn State shouldn't be a place that hires a guy that needs to cut his teeth at the position.

This. Hartline is an outstanding position coach and recruiter but, has ZERO head coaching experience at any level. No way was he getting the keys to a top 10 program that was in the CFP semi’s the year before.

Insiders said Elko was the target, but he withdrew about a month ago then PSU set their sights on Sitake. PSU had an agreement with Sitake on Sunday which allowed him to coach the B12 Championship game. There was a BYU team meeting scheduled Monday afternoon for him to announce.

BYU boosters and donors caught wind and pledged the money to keep Sitake as well as a full court press by higher ups in the LDS church.

Firing Franklin at the time was the right move. Losing two straight as 20 point favorites is inexcusable. Add losing three games against top 5 teams when you had the ball to win the game on the last possession and your 5 star qb throws a pick into quadruple coverage on first down, things became extremely toxic in Happy Valley.

The AD bodged it by not also firing the GM who was a Franklin loyalist and basically kept working for Franklin after he was fired (killed the recruiting class) . Not hiring Terry Smith after Elko said no after it became apparent that Smith may have some head coaching chops was the other.

The team started playing much better once Franklin was fired - first three games were at Iowa, at OSU, and home vs Indiana with a brand new QB. Us Penn State fans viewed that if Kraft couldn’t get the whale because the market changed, we could see the benefit of hiring Smith for about 5 million, and using the money saved towards NIL and the roster.

The vaunted Jim Knowles defense gave up 500 yards to Rutgers last weekend.

He hasn't won anything because he's been at tier 2 schools, he is coming to a tier 1 school with a talent rich pipeline and lots of money to pay for it. If he can't win a title here he never will, 2 retards won here

Kiffen was at USC right after their glory years and he fricked it up so bad they left him at the airport after a bad loss.

Their OC is complete AZZ.

He will do okay but VT won't get back to where they were 15+ years ago just because of him. Great recruits aren't lining up to go to out in the sticks Blacksburg unless they can pay them enough.

As opposed to the sticks of State College?
If the Eagles get their o line healthy, they are unbeatable.

Was trying to explain this to a young relative. I wasn't trying to change their stance but they asked why I thought Trump won the election. Said basically the Republicans know not to go to far right and they will probably keep getting center/ center left voters. Or if the don't get those votes they wont vote for the democrat presidential candidates.

The Dem’s biggest mistake was running Biden again in 2024 without a contested primary. They chose to hide him until they couldn’t and it was a disaster. By that time, they had no choice but Kamala. A candidate so bad in 2020 that she dropped out before a single vote was cast in the primaries.

quote:

As people think it is. And as the candidates start emerging the question will be asked “is this guy even better than Franklin” I mean Franklin had a damn good run at upper 2nd tier Penn st. Battling Oregon, osu, UM I don’t think elites are gonna line up for that gig. Outside of this year I think Franklin MAXIMIZED Penn states ability to win and has made them believe they are more capable than they actually are. They will be down there with the likes of the huskers and Michigan state soon.

Better question is what does Oregon, OSU, and UM have that PSU doesn’t?

- PSU campus is 3 hours from NYC, Philly, the DMV, and Pittsburgh. Other than USC, what other top 10 historical program has access to such a large population area within 3 hours?
-107K capacity stadium currently undergoing a nearly billion dollar renovation. Despite being 2 hours from civilization, they still draw 100 plus every game. Same as UM and OSU. Autzen is nice but tiny
- one of the largest alumni networks in the country

In hindsight, Paterno mailed it in after the 1994 season as you can’t argue that PSU wasn’t a top 5 program from the late 70’s to early 90’s with some years being the best. While entering the B1G was the right move in 1993, you can’t argue that PSU slipped as PSU didn’t adjust well to living in the B1G culminating in 4/5 seasons with a losing record in the early 2000’s.

They had a resurgence from 2005-2011, but not where the program was prior to 1995.

The perfect example of the B1G affecting PSU was the rise of Wisconsin - the Badgers for nearly 3 decades seemed to have a never ending stream of stud running backs from New Jersey. Prior to 1993, PSU would have locked down a lot of that talent that went to other B1G schools.

Franklin did a good job building the program to where it was from 2005-2011 prior to the sanctions, but couldn’t get the program to where it was prior to 1995. He couldn’t rally the high dollar donors for various reasons which is critical in the NIL era.

The current AD is a fantastic fundraiser. It can’t be understated how bad the Sandusky scandal affected fundraising. The big reason is the University did nothing to defend itself and threw the football program under the bus.

It just straight up wrote blank checks to ANYONE who made a claim with zero vetting. Most PSU alumni think the Sandusky investigation didn’t go deep enough. The big dollar alumni were overall loyal to Paterno and didn’t trust the university. This caused some friction with O’Brian and Franklin in his early years.

It was VERY well known in PA that Sandusky ran a charity for at risk boys which was the largest supplier of foster services in central PA. This charity was under the direct supervision of the attorney general’s office. Sandusky found all his victims through this charity. Once Sandusky was found guilty, the investigation into the charity stopped as they decided to cease operations.

Now that the Sandusky scandal is 15 years in the rearview mirror, there’s starting to be a large cadre of alumni who were at PSU at the end/post the Paterno era entering their prime earning and donating years who don’t have the blind loyalty to Paterno. Hopefully the AD and new coach can rally them.

Idk if Elko would have any interest or not, but this chick also unironically listed Ryan Day as a potential candidate.

It all depends on how many death threats Day’s kids get if OSU loses to Michigan again this year.
