So when does he serve the suspension? Does he ever miss a game?

Also, what if he gets a yellow against Belgium?

I think as long as he doesn’t get another red for a year then he doesn’t have to serve the suspension.

If he gets another red in the next year then he has to serve this original suspension plus the suspension for the next red card. So basically if gets another red card in the next calendar year he gets an extra game tacked on to that suspension.

A yellow card wouldn’t trigger it.

But if they were doing this the answer should be lift the red card. If it’s a valid red card he should serve it the next game imo

Idk why you're getting downvoted when you're on the money.
It should either be downgraded to a yellow/no foul or upheld per the rules.

Wtf is a red card but not red enough to sit out a World Cup game (just future tournaments)?? Or does this mean he could play Belgium then FIFA drops the hammer if we played Spain??

They already finished reviewing & made a statement so that couldn't be the hold up either. I don't understand this at all but am not complaining about Balogun playing tomorrow lol

Edit: thanks tigerfan88 for explaining. I was not aware of article 27, makes sense & glad to see FIFA trying to make things right

Right no one here is mad about the end result but the entire process is terrible from the VAR team to the ref to FIFA this whole weekend

Is this the first time we’ve ever benefited from the usual blatant FIFA corruption?

FIFA doesn’t have an appeals process to overturn red cards, either internally or externally. It’s just the way their bylaws work.

What they’re doing here is the closest they’ll come to overturning it. Again it’s just how their rules work. It is kind of dumb but again it’s not without precedent, they’ve done this before in other WCs.

Because trying to apply logic to FIFA is like trying to divide by zero. The big takeaway from this is that US Soccer is now relevant enough to garner FIFA's dark arts in its favor.

shite. Senior FIFA officials currently on American soil better have gotten a visit like Neo got at the beginning of the Matrix.

What the USNT can't risk right now is a double suspension in 2027

From no appeals process to reinstated?

How did that happen?

In addition to not having any fixed rules really (like time on a match or offsides at times), looks like this is not a fixed rule either.

Yeah people saying FIFA is making shite up and not following rules don't know the rules.

I'm really going to believe these people that just started watching soccer last month has read the entire rule book?
