Why are Texas Republicans trotting Paxton out there?

Surely there was a better candidate than this guy. TONS of baggage - typical political slime (Though, still better than the Democrat alternative)
Grassroots movements are dead I guess. Being real and winning the people over organically is DOA in DC(National) politics for the most part. He was grafted into the lead jockeying position by power brokers.
I'd probably pull the lever for him if I were registered there still, but I'm tired of these career politicians gaining favor in these races without really deserving it.
We vote for installed candidates mostly these days. We don't get the best.

Follow the money.
The GOP cabal always wins, even if they lose a seat.

Nothing brings out the “he’s unworthy!!!” whiners quite like someone actually willing to promote MAGA principles before and after an election

What the frick does this mean?
Didn’t he win a primary election against at least two other Republicans, one of which was the tenured Republican incumbent?

Let's examine the root of your rediculous accusation. Paxton broke up the Drunk Dade Phelan Bush Mafia Democrat coalition in the Texas House. And right now he's working to undo the terrible damage done by the Transgender Lobby......to our children. He's established a Transgender deprogramming center. For the record, THAT is the reason why the mafia democrats loathe him so much.
By the way it's my understanding Paxton and his wife have agreed to put a hold on their divorce. I never relish the collapse of a marriage - especially with children involved. I hope (and pray) they can reconcile their differences.
FACT - A candidates baggage in his personal life is ONLY an issue when the candidate is a Republican.
There, I said it.

When the other side is trotting out a deviant freak like Talarico, who was up against a phony race-peddler named Jasmine Crockett, you're really complaining about Ken Paxton?

Because Trump endorsed him

Why do Dems put out bad candidates like Hillary and Kamala? Bernie was outperforming Hillary in 2016, and the Dems got him to step aside for Hillary. The Dems didn’t even allow anyone to run against Kamala.

Geez Louise. The guy is current AG of the state. One who has killed it in state elections, even the last one that had his drama released.
You people act like he's some random that was just chosen out of the crowd.

Republicans are so short-sighted.
“Yeah, let’s not vote for Paxton because he’s not my perfect candidate! We’ll be stuck with a dem senator for 6 years who will rubber-stamp whatever the next Democratic administration wants along with endless far left judges. That’ll teach the GOP!”

Cornyn/Bush/Phelan- RINO
Paxton- America First
Does this clear up why Paxton won the primary?

Yet you aren't expressing outrage over why John Cornyn was the installed candidate for the past 24 years and would have been shoehorned in for another 6 if not for Trump endorsing Paxton. I don't care if the new candidates have baggage, it's more important to primary and remove the fake do-nothing "conservatives" who have sat in office for decades in comfort overseeing the rapid demise of our society and willfully sit by and do nothing while the left expands their institutional control and hands the country over to foreigners and Marxist fanatics.
I swear so many of our own can't see the forest for the trees with their moral grandstanding. They'd rather watch our country be destroyed as long as they can profess to be self righteous.

Because the GOP is incapable of sustained success. They really only thrive as the opposition party. They had a huge mandate in 2024 and ruined it in 18 months

Most of the so-called baggage was muckraking from the bush, Dynasty and their allies. Texans chose Paxton because they saw through it.

I’d like to believe they do this intentionally yet I’m afraid their actions are made out of ignorance.

Races like these are why the closed primary system is broken.
Louisiana had it right for years. Jungle primary and let best 2 candidates fight it out in the general election.
Unfortunately, the current occupants in the Louisiana governor’s mansion and the legislature want to push party primaries for a variety of elections.
No ranked choice voting either to try to eliminate that second election to avoid a runoff like in some states.
The problem with party primaries is that the party crazies vote for their loon candidate that we as voters have to support or get stuck with someone in the opposition party.
