Jungle primaries should be unconstitutional. The point of a primary is so that members of a Party can choose a candidate to represent the Party in the general election. Doing so actually gives voters a real choice between parties and their candidates. Jungle primaries cause what we’re seeing in California where the dominant party effectively locks out any opposition from running in the general.

Where in the Constitution does it say political parties?

A jungle primary allows all voters to vote for the candidate of their choice in the primary regardless of party registration.

Closed primaries depending on state allow only Registered Republicans to vote for a Republican on the ballot in the primary. Same with the Democrats. If you are an independent, and depending on the state, you could be locked out of voting for a candidate in the primary.

In Louisiana, at least you have the option to declare if you are going to Vote in a Republican or Democrat primary, but this creates a very unnecessary step in the election process for someone to have to declare what party they want to vote in.

It also creates the task of having to vote 4 times for the same race: Party Primary, Party Primary Run Off, General Primary and General Election Run Off in some states.

If the parties want to hold a Caucuses months before the election on their own, they can make a candidate the official choice for the Party seperate from the election process. The official election process should be neutral of party bias or influence.

The two party system is also why independents feel left out of the election process.

What the frick does this mean?

Didn’t he win a primary election against at least two other Republicans, one of which was the tenured Republican incumbent?

Paxton was not chosen by the TGOP Establishment, he strong armed his way into the race and kicked Cornyn to the curb

I don't know if I've ever seen a bigger gaslighting campaign surrounding a Senate election in my life.

What makes this race so over the top is you have TX Dems and TX GOPE working together to try to stop Paxton and it isnt working.

Talarico is propped up by big outside TX donor money, there is very little financial support from Texas voters and donors

Big outside money always make big dumb moves, there is no nuance to it so everything seems outrageous

The nuance is coming from GOPE trying to undermine the MAGA movement in TX because it threatens their hold office and do nothing status quo.

Big outside money also gets total buy in from MSM because they are usually connected nationwide to large MSM Ad buys. The GOPE are doing the local and state MSM game for the Talarico camp.

The TX D just picked an absolutely terrible candidate with too many skeletons in his closet.

Because the Texas GOP has an old guard that needs to go. They've gotten comfortable.

The fact Abbot is running neck and neck should tell you something.

How many convictions? Wild accusations don’t count. The only one I recall is his issue around an equity issuance advice when he wasn’t a FINRA licensed individual. And he got busted on that on a technicality that many people use including myself at one point.
