Pretty clear
If Talarico wins-
Cornyn should have coasted to the win here but got slapped by DJT and lost and republicans didn’t get a better choice so more voters go with the lib. Who was the one he that inserted Paxton over Cornyn?
That’s where thr fault lies

Impossible to blame this on the minority bunch.
This board has said time and time again since staunch AIPAC Ed defeated Massie that the people voiced their opinions.

in 2020, Hegar (vs Cornball) raised $29.6 million during her entire campaign. Talarico has already raised over $134 million, plus appearances on The View, millions of views from Colbert, and the PEOPLE magazine treatment.
Cornyn beating Hegar by 9.6 points six years ago doesn’t establish that he’d “curb stomp” a Democrat with over four times the campaign funding and that national platform.

They know there is blood in the water with Paxton
Again, the DEMs have been shown before to support MAGA candidates in primaries because it gives them better odds in the general compared to the MAGA primary competition.
The Democrats' strategy of boosting far-right candidates seems to have worked

The political support ranged from money to TV ads and email blasts. What made it unusual is where it came from, and what it was meant to do: Back in the primary season, a number of Democrats tried to boost far-right Republican candidates whom they deemed easier to beat in November.
The strategy seems to have paid off: In high-profile races where Democratic candidates or groups successfully used the strategy during the primaries, all of the Republicans they helped have either lost or are trailing, two days after Election Day.

so the 2/3rds of TX GOP voters should allow themselves to be disenfranchised so uniparty swamp monster can continue to harm our country?

This is when the black pill stuff starts coming up and people dishonestly say that Cornyn is as bad as Talafreako

Same here in Georgia. Rick Jackson went from endorsed by Trump in order to win the primary to not mentioning Trump hardly at all in the general.

Yikes.
Trump fatigue is real.
But how can Donalds be so disloyal to Trump.
How dare he!

Democrats seeing an opportunity against Paxton is a fair argument. Cornyn automatically “curb stomping” Talarico is a separate claim you still haven’t established.
An article about other candidates in other states four years ago doesn’t establish it either. For someone so particular about everyone else’s logic, you give your own assumptions a remarkably generous employee discount.

who has said that? how did you come to that inference?
at some point you have to shoot the cripples. from a governance standpoint, Cornyn is a crip.

Cornyn. Period.
He is smart enough to realize Senators opposing Trump and SAVE were in trouble. He was too arrogant to get on board and instead thought he was unbeatable. He underestimated the support for SAVE and the skepticism of him by MAGA.
Paxton is full MAGA and the Republican primary was a massacre. Now, Cornyn and his ilk (The Bush's, Roves, etc) are choosing a far left liberal over Paxton purely out of spite and resentment of Trump and MAGA which is now dominating "their" party.
Paxton hasn't made many mistakes since the primary and has been quiet (because he knows he is polarizing and not great on the stump).
If Cornyn supports SAVE which is supported by over 80% of Republicans, there is no Paxton and he's still a senator. Pride and Arrogance were his downfall. So, it's on him.

Paxton is a trash candidate. If he loses how will it be spun?
If Paxton loses, the people who deserve the blame are Paxton himself and Trump and MAGA who backed him in the primary and got him in the race.
Paxton will deserve blame for being selfish and running a horrible campaign. He was a deeply flawed candidate to begin with, and if he actually cared about the party he would've realized that and not run. Also, if you're going to take out an incumbent, you need to run a good campaign and unite the party. He hasn't done either of those things.
As for Trump and MAGA, if they really cared about keeping the seat they would've done 1 of 2 things:
1. Bite the bullet and vote for Cornyn, as he is much more electable in a General Election than Paxton and it could very well be his last term given his age.
2. Draft a competent conservative with no baggage to get in the primary and take out Cornyn. Someone who could actually run a good campaign and unite the party.
They did neither of those things.
quote:
If Paxton is "trash" and he beat Cornyn by 28 in the primary, what does that make John?
Primary electorates are radically different than General Election electorates. And, especially since MAGA has come into the picture, primaries haven't been the best tool to measure who the best General Election candidate is.
Dave McCormick couldn't beat Dr. Oz in a primary. MAGA voted for Oz, a RINO who endorsed tranny surgeries on his tv show. Oz lost to Fetterman, who has brain damage. 2 years later, McCormick beat 3 term-incumbent Bob Casey who is political royalty in PA. If McCormick got the nomination instead of Oz, he would've defeated Fetterman.
Also in 2022, MAGA cost us several swing races by nominating shite candidates over more electable ones. For example, Kari Lake-Abrams won the nomination for Governor. Kimberly Yee ran against Lake-Abrams but had to drop out because she was losing to Lake-Abrams by 4-1 and 5-1 margins in polling. Yee decided to run for State Treasurer. On the same ballot in 2022, Yee won her race by 11% on the same ballot where Lake-Abrams lost. Yee received 120,000 more votes than Lake-Abrams did. Yee was the better General Election candidate, she just couldn't beat Lake-Abrams in a primary.
The reason there was no red wave in 2022 was because of MAGA and Trump. They hand-picked and nominated shite candidates as the nominees for several swing races, over more electable ones, and they ended up losing in the General.
